On Serena's Inconsistencies

Inconsistency: the deviation between expressed attitude and actual behaviour. The question: Is she inconsistent with what she says from what she does? IMO, yes...BUT I can see several reasons why she needs to exhibit this character.

First and foremost, the most common culprit: trust issues. We witnessed how she pressed Simon for the truth but he still ended up lying to her many times. It was only when destiny interfered and the stars have aligned that Simon threw all the cautions to the wind and found the courage to break this chain of secrecy between him, the Urtolas and his family as well against Serena. Yes, he expressed his willingness to go for the truth several times but there's always something that holds him back, and the truth stays in the backseat...again and again and again. Simon's utang na loob (gratefulness) and humility (kababaang loob) are his strongest points but also his major character flaws.

Serena is inconsistent because she wants him to defend his own self without interference or nudging from anybody...because Simon is passive when it comes to himself and his rights as a person and man. He seems to have set low expectations for his own happiness, a chronic symptom of low self-esteem. Proofs:

1. Three bikini clad women teased and made fun of Simon's lisp. What did he say about this? " Sanay na ko dyan" and also how Nanay Taps told him not to pay attention to these people who are making fun of his speech defect. It was Serena who went to these ladies and preached them about moral compass.

2. Serena made a public confession of her love to Simon after the latter was subjected to public humiliation and ridicule due to his low social class, low education, and his speech? Simon didn't show any hint of slighted pride despite the audience's low whispers about his deficiencies and his displacement in that gathering of the elites. The sanay na ko dyan attitude. Sanay na syang nilalait. Sanay na syang pinagtatawanan. Because his mind was already conditioned that he lacked something that others have; therefore, he will never be accepted easily by others. Nakakaiyak but it's the truth. I honestly think that the writers are pushing Simon to his limits, until he loses that control, until he can no longer be the humble Simon, and finally learns that sometimes, it is alright to make his and Serena's happiness his priorities.

3. When Simon's rear end landed on the floor after Franco's cousin intentionally pushed the chair away, an obvious bullying, and GC's seemingly very amused response, laughter and more laughter. Nakakalalake... but he didn't react the way a normal bloodied animal would do in that situation. Yes, he was visibly upset but not enough to throw a punch or two: one for Burger's prank and one for GC's reaction. Serena refuses to fight for Simon this time and be his staunch defender again because the writers wants him him to show that inner resolve to stop being defenseless and to refuse being a victim of bullying all the time. If he can't fight for himself, how'd he fight for Serena and their love against all odds, meaning the DeLucas and Luciana?

In relation to this, I refuse to believe that Luciana is Simon's real parent as this arc won't equip Simon with his much needed self-esteem. It will only make him feel small and devaluate his worth as an individual. In addition, I also don't want to be lead on by the writers: the woman looking for her son, the extortionist's statement: I found it, and other giveaways that point Luciana as Simon's mother. I'd rather guess that he is an illegitimate son of someone important, the reason why he was kept from the public eye, but was always monitored until that person was ready to acknowledge him or until the time was fit for revelation. This arc will finally give Simon that needed boost for his morale and an equal palying field against GC...just my POV.
