A/N: Welcome to my second Tayley fic! I felt the last one was a bit too easy, I'm craving a bit of a build up. Although that's harder to write than I thought it would be, apparently I just want to write fluffy smut (lovely, right?).
I hope you guys like it!
Also... how excited are you guys about the RCB video?!
— — —I'm standing under the small awning in front of the liquor store holding the bottles of wine I promised Taylor I would bring over before the party kicked off tonight. As I watch the rain cascade down the awning creating a curtain blocking me from my car, I kick myself for not getting prepared earlier. I look down at my phone, 6pm, only 2 hours until people will be rocking up, I really need to make a run for my car. I gaze longingly across the car park, to my little car parked in the back corner, completely unaffected by the torrential rain. Why did I park so damn far away?
I notice a slight lull in the intensity of the rain and decide it's now or never. Here goes nothing. I sprint to the car, running into the wind and rain, I finally make it to my car, heaving and dropping wet. I look down to see just how high I score on the drowned rat scale and it's not looking good. My hair is straight again, plastered to my once opaque white shirt dress which is now displaying my yellow lace bra. Great.
After a 15 minute drive in heavy traffic, with my shoe squelching and flooding my toes with water every time I step my foot to the peddle, all I want is to get these clothes off.
I park in Taylor's driveway and walk up the stairs, looking down at my appearance once again., having the aircon vents blowing on full blast did nothing to help dry me at all. Taylor is sure to get a laugh from this. I ring the doorbell and hear him run down the stairs, he opens it and I find him in a state not all to different from mine. He's standing infront of me, wearing nothing but a pair of jeans and a towel around his neck. His curls are damp and hanging down on his face, little droplets of water are falling from the tendrils onto on his defined chest and shoulders. I can't help but stare at his body. This is absurd, he's your best friend Hayley. I'm just lonely and a bit horny, it's nothing, get a hold of yourself!
I finally pull my gaze upwards to his face and I'm greeted by a large lopsided grin. He's must not of noticed me staring or he's just ignoring it, thank god. I don't awkwardness coming between our friendship.
"Hayles! What happened to you? You're all wet" I looks over me with an amused expression on his face, I notice his gaze stops over my chest for s brief moment. His eyes meet mine and a slight blush develops on his cheeks. Surely that was just an accident. I mean it's not like there is anything of real significance on show, he's seen me in bikinis before, heck he's seen me in bras before. A bit of nakedness is to be expected, especially after how many years touring? Although I have to admit, T has aged well...
"I got caught in the rain buying these!" I say, holding up the bag in my hand.
"God Hayley, the wine wasn't that important!" He says, taking the bag from my hands, "Come in, you must be freezing!"
I walk into the warm inviting house and that when I realise my wet feet have now gone numb from the cold. I can't help a but let out a little shiver as I take my shoes off in the entryway."I think you might of left some clothes here, how about I try to find them while you have a shower and warm up, I only just got out myself when you got here."
"Yeah that explains your state of dress, I know you're a hunk of a specimen but it's freezing tonight, might not be wise to be half naked for the party."
"Isn't a sign of a good party ending up naked though?" He says with a wink. He walks off to grab me warm clothes leaving me in his wake, picturing things one really should not think about their friend. This flirty banter needs to be put to an end, it's confusing me way to much. Taylor is my friend, my best friend. No matter how handsome he is, no matter the amount of chemistry, it's not going to happen, it will never happen. I can't lose another friend even if we would be so good together...As soon as I walk into the steamy bathroom I'm confronted by the comforting, masculine scent of T's body wash. I'm instantly reminded of his amazing hugs and I already feel more relaxed. As soon as I feel my toes again, I wrap one of his huge black towels around my body and timidly open the door to his bedroom. I'm warm and dry-ish, now is time to hunt for these elusive clothes. I walk into the bedroom and find little neat squares of folded clothes at the end of the bed.
Once dressed in my jeans and a sweater, I walk out of the room in search of Taylor. Just as I'm about to walk down the stairs, I notice the window to the roof is open, of course he's out there!
"T?" I call softly as I climb through the window. I find him perched on the ridge, now fully clothed with a Heineken in one hand and a cigarette in the other, looking into the sunset, he looks so peaceful, so handsome...
"Oh good you found the clothes, are those okay? It was going to be that or one of my sweatshirts."
"Of yes, I would never wear your sweatshirts would I?" I say with a laugh, remembering all of the cold nights on tour I would steal his clothes. "No, they're perfect, I can't believe I've left so much shit here! I'm sorry, I'll take them home with me tonight."
"Don't worry about it! You're here a lot, makes sense to keep some clothes just in case. After all without this, you'd be catching up with everyone looking like a chihuahua that was thrown in a pool".I laugh with him as I sit down next to him on the ridge of the roof. He brings up one knee so that he's now facing me and I find myself mirroring his position. We're sitting so close that it would be awkward with anyone else but as I study his face, I really can't complain.
"How are you going Hayles, are you in a better place now? You seem it." He asks me tenderly.
"I am, I was struggling with the whole 'by myself thing'. But I think I've found ME you know? I know I can be on my own now which is great but it can get pretty lonely, coming home after a tour full of people to an empty house you know?"
"I'm so glad Hayley". He says sincerely. "But yeah single life can get lonely. Just promise me something, be picky." He gently tucks a strand of hair behind my ear and rests his hand over mine. "Find someone who loves you for you, someone like-"
He's interrupted as his attention is drawn by a car pulling up. He looks back at me for a moment, he opens his mouth as if he's going to say something but instead gives me a closed mouth smile, "I suppose we better head down, looks like we have a party to host."
