I know you remember when it all started, but in case you forgot anything.

It all started that cool August night. School was about to start in a few weeks and we just wanted one night to memorialize our amazing summer. It started out harmless...

The air blew between the branches of the trees, creating a soft whistle noise that floated into the warm air. We walked down the gravel road slowly, the sun setting gracefully behind our heads.

"Gray, promise me you won't get carried away."

"Come on Adelaide. You and I both know it was a one time thing. And even if it wasn't I can stop whenever I want." I had announced. You had glanced over at me unsure but we continued to walk.

Five minutes later we could feel the bass of the music pumping underneath our feet. The house sat on a small hill. I remember you looking at the majestic building and comparing it to a castle. I had laughed and brushed you off, but couldn't help considering the same. There were a few people stumbling about the large lawn.

You and I walked up the front porch and entered the house. The music blasting around us made it nearly impossible to carry any kind verbal conversation. Though you wouldn't assume it looking from the outside, the house was packed with people our age. Many of them held red solo cups with liquid sloshing over the rim. I noticed you had vanished into the crowd, so I made my way towards the kitchen.

"Is there any more beer?" I yelled toward a short guy standing in the kitchen. He looked me over with a skeptical glance.

"How many have you had?"

"Who cares! Get me another!" I laughed even though nothing remotely funny had been said. The guy frowned yet still reached over and grabbed a beer. I popped the cap and brought the cool bottle to my eager lips. And for the sixth or seventh time that night I felt the cool calming liquid run down my throat.
