I sighed. I was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted already. How am I going to survive here long enough to complete this mission ?!

Patience I thought. Taking a deep breath I tapped my earring. As I looked through the many tabs that I had opened before ,and deemed them all useless, I calmed down a little bit after forcefully shutting them down. I then took off my earring and looked at it. It was a gift from Ophelia when I was six. It was only a small pearl but the gold holding it in its place was what really made it special. I smiled as I traced the delicate design, the gold glided around the pearl in many directions and twirled and swirled, and my fingers followed.

Until my finger touched the small gold chip that was embedded in the earring. I sighed as I remembered Ophelia's words.
" thank you so much Ophelia! It's beautiful!"
" I'm glad you like it little lady! But look here" she had said as she showed me where the chip lay.
"Ooh! What is that Ophelia?!"
" this is a small chip to help you!"
" you mean with the words that just pop up in my eyes?!" I had said wide-eyed.
" exactly that!" She chuckled " you just tap it and the words will appear or disappear"
" Really?! Thank you so much!" I said as I hugged her.
" Now that doesn't mean that you shouldn't learn to control them on your own, it will only help you to not get distracted"
" oh okay" I was a bit sad then. I knew that I wasn't normal.
" don't be sad little lady, I know it's tough but look at the earring!"
"What about it Ophelia?"
" the earring is beautiful, even if it has a chip inside it just like you! Treasure it dearly, you two aren't much different"
"What do you mean?"
" you'll understand when you grow up little lady, now come on it's time for bed" she said as she chuckled.

Oh what I wouldn't give to have them back. I sighed. Ophelia had always said that I was special, because I was like the earring. I was simple and precious on the inside and elegant on the outside, even if I had a chip in me. I had always been the weirdo at HQ. The orphaned girl who had a computer in her head,Who saw words sometimes flashing in her eyes. I could feel tears forming in my eyes and I stopped myself. This rabbit hole never ends. I will not open that chest of memories again. It was just simply too painful to deal with without Diane or Ophelia here.

Knock knock
I jumped, I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn't paid attention to the young woman standing at the door. But once my shock was over it wasn't hard to recognize her. She was every man's dream after all. With her long braided ginger hair, her big emerald green eyes, her long lashes and freckles, and most importantly her status. I quickly jumped off the bed and bowed as princess Theresa came in.

" oh no! You don't have to bow down to me!" She said smiling. What was up with these people and their fake kindness?! " I just can't wait for us to be friends!" Was that it? Does no one in this freaking palace ever mention past lottery winners?! I mask my thoughts with a shy smile.

" that's very kind of you" I say softly.
" it's nothing!" She exclaimed " now come on! Mom told me to help you get ready for the grand winner introduction!" I was faking a blush but it turned out to be very useless as she turned straight to the wardrobe. She may not want me to bow to her as a princess but she sure acts like one.

After shifting through several dresses and looking at me repetitively comparing me to the dresses, she would shake her head and go back vigorously looking through the racks again. Literally any one of the dresses would cost a fortune and would make anyone look amazing but that's just how the royals are spoiled brats.

"I found it!" She suddenly shouted, and I jumped. She didn't seem to notice, or just ignored me, because the next thing she did was look through the shelves of shoes. Ugh, Royals.

The rest of the outfit was thrown at me quickly, shoes, a necklace and earrings. She sent me immediately to the washroom so I could get dressed, but as I was heading over she yelled at me to stop and threw on a pair of gloves, and I couldn't help raise an eyebrow at her. The gloves were polar opposites of anything I would think would match with all the fancy stuff she threw on me.
" what? Don't raise your eyebrow at me, I'm an expert stylist and these will absolutely pull the outfit together!" She then paused and went pale as she grabbed some of the clothes off of me. "I'm sorry! I just get so focused when I'm picking an outfit! Come on let me help you get into these" she raced into the washroom and I followed her studying her carefully.
She had lowered her head, which was definitely not something a princess would do, yet she was moving around and threw clothes at me exactly like I would expect her to act. Royals are so confusing! Was she a threat, or a possible advantage?
Either way, true to her word, she helped me with the dress. I am ashamed to say that I would have needed someone's help in putting on the dress because it was layered and difficult to figure out. Every time I tried to look in the mirror though, she would turn me around and tell me to look at the end. After I had everything on, and she applied some makeup that I have never even imagined much less heard of. She insisted on doing my hair too. I was constantly worried if I was letting her do too many things, so I kept trying to tell her that I could do it but she would insist and i would let her. Partly because I'm supposed to act shy, but mostly because I want to say that the princess herself pampered me, it was childish but I have been deprived of fancy things all my life that it would be a shame to not take advantage of my situation right now, besides they would pale even more when they find out I was a traitor when they get overthrown.
When the princess finally let me look at the mirror, my mouth almost literally dropped to the floor.
The dress was an amazing shade of teal. It was simple in many standards; it had straps for sleeves that went around my upper arm right below my shoulder, it actually made me look like I have curves with how tight around every bend it was, and it fanned out a bit at the bottom right after my thigh hiding the rest of my legs. What made the dress amazing though, was the layer of chiffon that went around the shoulder strap and from the satin ribbon at my waist down to the floor. It felt like someone covered me in glitter. The dress itself was so soft that I was surprised. The heels were just as amazing with delicate engraving like designs on them. The necklace and earrings were gold and accentuated the outfit without pulling the attention away. The gloves though, I have to say we're the most surprising thing, if only for the fact that they matched. They weren't normal princess-y gloves but more like glorified biker gloves. They were teal as well, but they didn't look out of place, if anything they were the only thing that could've made the outfit any nicer. My hair wasn't in a but like I'd expected, it was left to go wild but she had tamed it to look somehow presentable but natural. I'd be surprised if this girl didn't have magic powers or something. The make up didn't show but it covered many blemishes on my face making them invisible.
I swallowed. Was this how they won people to their side? By showering them with these expensive things?! I take a deep breath and remind myself that I can't enjoy this too much, there was probably a high price for it and I don't want to know what it is, yet I couldn't deny that this was very appealing.
There was a sudden knock on the door, and we both jumped.
" I'm sorry Theresa, ms.Devon," she said bowing her head slightly at me, " but Mrs.Rarity wants the two of you outside because the ceremony is about to start"
" we will be there in a minute, thank you Matilda" Theresa said. Do they actually let the servants call them by their names? How deep does their deception go?!
" of course" Matilda continued as she left "also ms.Devon, I must say you look stunning" I blushed only this time, it was for real.
"Wow that's the deepest red I have seen you go all day" Theresa chuckled " anyway come on let's go, mom isn't very upbeat when we're late"
I swallowed. Was I ready for this? No. Will I ever be? Probably not. But I have To go ahead, if not for justice against these actors, then for Diane and Ophelia.
