I took a deep breath as I looked in the mirror. My near-curly blonde hair fell loosely down my back, no matter what I did with it, it was still a bit frizzy. I tugged at the ends until I gave up and made a face at my reflection. I could almost believe that I had the confidence that I was trying to fake if my green eyes weren't screaming in fear. Great, if I couldn't believe myself, how could anyone else? I jumped at the sound of knocking and peaked out my bedroom door.

"Leo! Are you ready to go!"

"Yes Katelyn. Just give me a sec, grab me some coffee, will ya?" I ran back to the mirror and gave my eyes one more swipe of mascara before I grabbed my backpack in order to check that I had everything that I needed for the day. Awesome, I sarcastically thought to myself. Nothing left to do to distract myself. I swung the gray bag over my shoulder and ran down the stairs, where Katelyn had just picked up the coffee pot in order to fill my thermos. "Now, I'm ready! Thanks."

"I can tell." She added a little creme to my cup and handed it to me. "Are you sure you don't want to tryout for Volleyball?" Ahh, Volleyball. The sport Katy has been trying to get me to do since I adopted into their family a few years ago. "We could really use an athlete like you on the team."

I rolled my eyes as I took a sip. "I'm sure. I already told you what I want to do."

"Soccer?"

Nod. "I'm feeling it. This is MY season. I really have to focus on it if I want to make the varsity team as a freshman. Maybe next year." Soccer is my way to get my anger out and escape from this shitty world. There is no way I'm giving that up for  VOLLEYBALL.

"Well, can't say I didn't try. I'm holding to you next season though." SShe tossed me my lunch sack and we walked out the front door. Thankfully, we live very close to the school, so we don't have to worry about riding the bus, since Katelyn still isn't done with her car. Although she's busy, that piece of junk was her baby. It was the way that her and our father bonded. Anyways, as we approached the school, that was already flooded with people, several people greeted my sister, including Jeffory.

"Hey Katelyn. How was your summer?" Katey slightly blushed as his voice washed over her. Interesting.

"Hi Jeffory, it was busy but good! How was yours?"

"It was pretty relaxing, thank you." He glanced at me quickly and looked back at her.

Katelyn followed his gaze. "Oh! Right! Jeff, this is my sister Leona. Leona, Jeffery. She's a freshman this year."

"It's a pleasure!" He grinned at me as he gave me an easy wave.

"Likewise!" I replied as two more guys walked up to us.

"Well hello, Katelyn!"The blonde smiled at her. "It's been awhile."

"Hey Prince Charming, still haven't found a girl that's able to put up with your stupidity?" She shot at him.

"Ouch!" The young man with extraordinary pale blue eyes, nudged the blonde with his elbow. "Did that hurt Garroth?"

Garroth glared at the brunette and shook his head. "Just as charming as ever, Katelyn." That's when he noticed me standing next to her. "Hey, I don't believe we've met. I'm Garroth Ro'Meave. And this idiot is Laurance." Gesturing to the slender man winking at me.

Normally, I could easily resist it when people attempted to flirt with me, however, this time I had to concentrate in order to control my blush. "I'm Leona."

Laurance shocked me by grabbing my hand and brushed a kiss across it. "It's a pleasure to meet you, my lady."

Katelyn shoved him away from me, causing him to stumble. "Get away from my sister, you pervert! She isn't looking for a relationship, especially not with you!"

"Sister?!" He looked startled. "Since when do you have a sister? I thought you just had a brother?"

"Doesn't matter. I know you both are my friends, but I will not hesitate to hurt you if I need to. Is that clear?"

I tugged lightly at her arm. "Katelyn, I know you just want me to stay saafe, but I can take care of myself."

"Leo, I know you can, but it doesn't mean I can't take a few extra precautions." She turned back to them. "Are we clear."

"If it means that much to you, of course." Garroth nodded.

Laurance gave a side smile and gave a fake salute. "Ma'am, yes ma'am."

"good." She gave Laurence a quick glare, then changed her expression. "Anyways, it's nice to see you all again. Sorry to come down on you both so hard. She's just my little sister, you understand?"

"Of course. I'd be the same way if I had my own. Have a great day! See you at lunch?" Garroth asked Katelyn.

"Yeah, save me a cookie if your mom made some."

"She always does." He smiled. "Nice to meet you, Leona! You're completely welcome to sit with us, too. If you need any help getting around, let me know!"

"Thanks, Garroth! Nice to meet you, too. Have a great day!" I waved as he walked away to a fountain. Laurance took a second to wink again as he turned around to follow Garroth's example, except he went in the direction of the school.

Katelyn took a moment to say goodbye to Jeffory, then grabbed me arm and pulled me into the school. "Trust me, stay away from Laurance."

"OW! But, bhy? I thought he was one of your friends?"

"He's... different. He's bad news. He's okay as long as you firmly state your distaste for him. I love you, but you're bad at doing stuff like that. There's too much people pleaser in you."

"Hey!... But fair. Fine, I guess." I straightened my tie. "Anyways, can you show me to my first class?"

"Nope! It's apart of the freshman experience. Good luuuuck!" Before I could argue with her she had already found another friend and walked away.

I huffed and looked around. I didn't recognize anyone. Except Garroth, who had just caught a girl with a purple bow that was holding back her dark hair, so he wasn't an option. I turned to look at my schedule again and began looking for my first class, but for some reason, I couldn't focus. I couldn't stop thinking about Katelyn's words. It still didn't completely make sense that she warned me to stay away. He seemed fine to me, a flirt, sure, but he was nice enough. But, his kiss stayed on my hand, even though I tried to shake it off. Katelyn was right. I had too many things that I needed to focus on and do. Anyways, here we go. I started up the stairs and just hoped that I wouldn't get lost.

Thanks for reading my first chapter on Wattpad! I hope you all like the rewrite. Again, things will be slightly different in order to be less problematic, but I'm going to try and keep the plotline as accurate as possible!
