Chapter Nine:

Desire

Adriana paced back and forth in her room, that following night was the night of the Yule ball. She sat on her bed, unsure of herself. She thought back on that day, the day she constantly thought about. The day she kissed Severus. The young girl inside her wished he had asked her to the ball. She constantly shook off the thought. She looked up at the mirror, glareing at her own refection. She got up from her bed, walking to her wardrobe putting on a new robe walking out of her room. Walking down the long corridors she made her way to Snape's office. Despite how awkward she now felt around him she felt she needed to do her job. She knocked lightly at his door, and waited for him to answer. She waited but no one came to the door for quite some time. Just as she decided to leave the door opened.

"Oh Adriana." said Snape hiding his face in the darkness.

"Your class will start soon, I've come to do my job." she said with forced calmness.

In actuality she wanted to scream, she wanted to run. That or she wanted to act on her emotions of Severus, without a care in the world. Every moment she spent just standing there tested her. But she was able to keep her composure when she thought of the day before.

"Yes, yes of course." he replied, his voice low and quite.

He opened the door wider letting her walk through. Even Snape felt that overwhelming feeling come over him. Like Adriana he had no idea how he felt anymore. He just knew that every moment she was in his presence, he felt his heart race a mile a minute. But he just could not say he was in love, he just couldn't. He walked over to his desk pulling out a stack of paper, handing it to Adriana.

"Put these on each of the students desks." he said as he handed her the papers.

She nodded walking into the classroom.

Snape sat down at his desk hiding his face in his hand. He took in a deep breath, clearing his mind. Adriana looked over her shoulder at Snape. She let out a sigh walking into the classroom. For a moment she regretted coming back to work, but again she put her thoughts aside.

She walked to the back of the room sitting at her desk in the back. Snape walked in opening the doors letting in the students. He walked to the front and began his lecture, leaving all his thoughts and feelings about Adriana behind.

She smiled, it felt like it was before. Before their emotions hadto get in the way of their friendship. Like it was last night. Once more she waited, but he did not call on her the entire class. Adriana pulled out her book, she thought back to when he read to her. A smile appeared on her face as she flipped back to that page.

The class ended an hour later. All the students rushed out of the room, not wanting to be there a second more than they needed to. As the last student made their way out, Snape closed the door behind them. He walked up to Adriana, his face was unreadable like always. She could never understand how he could do that.

Adriana couldn't look Snape in the eyes. Her gase remained on the ground as she waited for him to speak.

"I just wanted to make sure you were alright. After how you acted yesterday." He said, his voice showing no hint of nervousness.

"I can manage for now. " she looked up at him, "thank you for being there for me Severus."

"Your welcome." He replied.

She smiled, picking up her bag walking out the door. She lingered in the hallway for a moment, her lips still curled into a smile.

"is it time yet?" asked an unknown man from the darkness. He dragged his tongue over his now elongated fangs as he watched Adriana. His eyes filled with lust and hunger.

Andrew laughed, stroking his chin.

"no not yet. Let's wait, let's see what she dose." said Andrew.

The other man laughed evilly.

"you hate seeing her with him don't you?" asked still laughing.

"does it bother you?" asked Andrew coldly.

The man growled in annoyance.

"yes..." he admitted, his nails digging into the wood of the rafter.

"well than..," spat Andrew glowering at the man.

The man grimaced at Andrew, climbing down from the rafter.

"Where are you going?" asked Andrew.

The man grinned, "to get a bite to drink."

Andrew rolled his eyes.

"fine just make sure you are not seen." said Andrew.

The man just grinned and walked off to find his next victim.

Author Note: Well you could say part of the inspiration for both chapter nine and chapter ten came from that song that you can find on the side. It sort of fits the story so I decided to add it on.  And sorry this one is so short, I'll make it up next chapter :)
