Finally visiting my old friend Oikawa. Tooru and I have been friends since I can remember. Today he's taking me to his volleyball practice before we go out for lunch. He saunters over to me once changed and hangs an arm around my shoulders. "So. How you liking it so far? Great gym eh?"
"It's alright. I've seen better, besides, it's the pool where I'm most at home."
"Yeah but volleyball is way better than swimming."
"Only cos you can't swim Shittykawa!" I defended, jabbing the setter in the side.
"Tooru we've set up stop flirting and get to practice." A deep voice spoke over Oikawa and me. I looked up to come face to face with a large built guy, short deep brown hair and olive green eyes. His expression was hard but he softened slightly when he looked at me. "Sorry. He can come on a little too strong." He turned back to Tooru. "Whatever she hit you for you probably deserved it." I smiled smugly.
"Yeah. What he said Shittykawa!" I stuck my tongue out at him. The male looked back at me.
"Wait. You know him?" He questioned.
"Who Tooru. Sadly yeh. We grew up together. The twit is like a brother to me." I answered smiling.
"Yeh." Oikawa piped up. "The self centred swimmer is my friend Y/N. Y/N. This is Hajime Iwaizumi, my spiker and vice captain." I smiled and waved at the tall guy in front of me. I'm relatively little for a swimmer but my coach calls me a pocket rocket because I'm fast.
"You're a swimmer?" He questioned.
"Yeah. I'm short, Tooru over there isn't that tall to play volleyball but hey." I laughed. "Y-you should probably get back to practice." I smiled, he just nodded and jogged off.
"Oohhhh. You've made a bit of an impression haven't you?" Tooru laughed. "Looks like Iwaizumi likes you."
"H-he's not my type. I was just being polite. Keeping up conversation you know." Tooru May be the one I was talking to but my eyes never left the tall guy, who was now practicing hitting the ball over the net, I believe it's called spiking.
I sat watching him play for a while, Tooru, not the other guy... much. They both came over when practice was finished. "Tooru. We going for Ramen now? I'm super hungry, plus, you're buying!" He turned to his friend.
"You coming too Iwa?" They both looked between each other and me.
"If that's okay with you." He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. The more the merrier." I smiled. We all walked there but just as we were about to sit down Tooru pulled out his phone.
"Awh, damn. Mum just text me. She needs my help. I gotta walk my Nephew home from school. You have Ramen without me, I promise we'll do something tomorrow. Okay?" He smiled.
"Fine. I'll see ya soon Tooru." I waved as he walked out. "Sooo." I leant on the table "how are you Then?" I laughed.
"I Uh. I'm fine thank you. A little awkward as he just left me with a girl I hardly know. You?" I spoke quietly, scratching the back of his neck.
"I'm great. I love new people and stuff. If you're one of Oikawa's friends then you've gotta be interesting. Not many people can put up with him. I knew he'd find friends playing volleyball. Do you know how long he tried to get me to play with him?"
"No." He smiled, "he never really mentioned you. Only that he had some old friends that he needed to see more often."
"Oh. Well. Years, years he spent begging me to practice volleyball with him. I was too busy beginning my own athletic career. That's when I moved away, my parents made me go to a sport specific school where I could learn and train intensively. Made me what I am today. 18 years old and 2 times gold medalist at the national championships in 400m butterfly. Already picked out for the olympics in two years time." I shrugged. "It's hard though, swimming is such a lonely sport, just you and the pool, you're there for yourself, no one else. Everyone else in that water is your rival. I do sometimes wish I'd picked a team sport, where I have support from teammates and people around me." I looked up at him. "Terribly sorry. I'm rambling."
"No no. It's okay. Besides. Couldn't you join a swimming relay team. Then you're not alone. They do that, right?" He shrugged.
"I guess. I never really thought about being in a relay." I smiled back at him. He really was a handsome guy. I couldn't deny it. We spent hours talking about our sports, our interests, why we'd like to murder Tooru like 90% of the time, until I finally looked at my watch. "Oh my god. It's like 8pm. Time sure flies when you're having fun eh?" I laughed. "I should really get going." He stood up next to me.
"At least allow me to walk you back to wherever you're staying. It is late after all." As he spoke he hardly looked at me, his cheeks slightly pink. It was adorable.
"Of course."
He walked me back to my hotel in silence. Not awkward silence, it was comfortable, relaxing almost. "Well. This evening has been great. Thank you." I spoke smiling, as he scratched the back of his neck, pink dusting his cheeks once again.
"If you'd like to do it again. W-while you're here that is?"
"I'd love to." I stood up on my top toes and placed a small kiss on his cheek. "Thanks again." I smiled before running into my hotel like a lovesick teenage girl.
