Chapter 1 - Partners
Everyone was waiting for their teacher to arrive for the class. Some were lazing around, some playing games, some chatting, some reading sincerely.
Taichi Yagami, the leader of the digi destined and the captain of the soccer team was seated at the back of the class by the window. 'It is the best place to sleep between boring lectures' was Tai's argument (Tai as he was lovingly called.)
His two best friends and fellow digi destined Yamato Ishida and Sora were placed a few benches ahead of him. Yamato was the 'hottest' guy in the school while his girlfriend Sora, was the class president. They had been dating for three years and were rock-steady. Smart and talented, they made a wonderful couple, much to the envy of numerous fan-girls in the class.
Tai was fatigued post a strenuous time on the soccer pitch and was napping away in class, Yamato and Sora joined their benches and were spending some 'lovey-dovey' moments together. Even though Tai loved both his best friends, their 'PDA' made him feel a little uncomfortable and so he decided to look away and found solace in the birds chirping outside.
Unaware to him, a pair of eyes stole glances from him. Those pair of eyes belonged to Meiko Mochizuki, a newly discovered digi-destined. Meiko was a transfer student and new to Odaiba High School. Painfully shy, she was almost non-existent to the world. In her brief time, she had developed a massive crush on her neighbour and classmate Taichi. She really liked him. Though they had the same friend circle, their interaction was limited to basics. But besides that, Meiko was floored by his personality. While the girls in class swooned over Yamato, Meiko put her bets on Tai's charm, impulse, loving yet a fire-brand personality.
She smiled to herself as she saw him fidget with his bushy brown hair and watch a couple of sparrows play outside the window. 'His eyes are so warm and sincere', she thought to herself.
Ms Ayumi Takashi, their teacher entered the class and everyone hurriedly occupied their seats.
"Good Morning class, I have the topics for your mid-term projects. As soon as I announce your assignments, please sit with your respective pairs okay." Ms Ayumi Takashi announced and the class nodded.
"Yamato Ishida your pair is..." Ms Ayumi said as she concentrated on the sheet of paper in her hand, biting the back end of her pencil. The girls in class waited with bated breath. They wanted to know who will be paired with the 'golden boy' of the class. "Sora Takenouchi", Ms Ayumi announced. The girls let out a collective sigh and Tai smirked looking at the 'heartbreak'. Yamato turned to face Sora and winked at her. Sora returned it with a flying kiss and both of them smiled. The girls seethed in jealousy.
"Taichi Yagami your partner is Meiko Mochizuki" Ms Ayumi announced and Meiko's cheeks widened with happiness. Tai on the other hand, let out a sigh a relief. Meiko was a responsible and studious student and also his neighbour. He was comfortable with her. He turned towards Meiko and flashed a genuine smile which made Meiko blush hard. Sora winked at Meiko who fished out her water bottle to hide her scarlet face.
