Chapter 9

Hollie

 

Matt and I woke up to his alarm on the phone.

 

“We have practice”

 

“Ok I’ll get dressed too”

 

“I can’t go with you to the airport I’m sorry but you can take Vinny with.  He’ll need you help counting merch, but as long as you help him later he’ll not be completely screwed over”

 

“I wish you could go too” I said softly.  I got dressed and we head out of the bedroom.  The others were sitting on the counter eating cake.  “Really guys?”

 

“Shut up and take your plate girl” Vinny said passing me a plate.

 

“You guys ready to head out?  Vinny; you and Hollie take my car?” I felt the lump in the back of my throat grow bigger.  I silently placed my plate in the sink and slipped on Eddie’s vest.  Matt handed me his keys and wrapped me in a hug.  “Be strong love” I nod before Vinny leads Eddie and I out of the apartment and into the elevator.

 

“I’m sorry you have to witness this but thanks for coming with me”

 

“Hollie it’s ok.  I understand and it’s ok to cry” We drove to the airport silently.  When we got there we waited in the admirals club.  They had converted it into a place for military families to unite or say goodbye in private.  We sat and stared out the windows since we had a half an hour to wait.  The door opened and we both looked up.  A smile crossed my face, there poking his head around the door was my spiky haired lip ring cladded boyfriend.

 

“You honestly thought we wouldn’t come?” He said.  The door burst the rest of the way open and there stood all the guys smiling.  Vinny rubbed my back and took Eddie from my arms.  I stood up and hugged Matt tightly.

“Thanks babe”

“They landed early so we rushed over here. They are probably waiting to get off the plane right now. An airport employee is supposed to bring them here.”

“Ok.  I’m glad you guys get to meet Jimmy” I told them as they spread around the room.  I stood in Matt’s arms waiting for my best friend to walk through the door with my adopted daughter. We sat in a comfortable silence until the door knob turned and I felt my breath catch.  The door opened and we all stood up.  Jimmy and Ellie stood in the doorway.  Ellie ran to me and hugged me tightly.

“I missed you”

“I missed you too” I looked up to see  Jimmy standing there watching us.  I motioned for him to join the hug. He dropped his bag and hugged the two of us. When we separated I wiped my eyes and remembered the guys were in the room. “Where are my manners?  Jimmy these are the guys.”
