I was in a bad mood. I didn't want to work, but I needed that money. The school day went by in a blur, I didn't bother paying attention to class. It was a miracle I wasn't failing by now (but I might be close).

The bell rang to dismiss class. Before I could get up and go to Mari's seat, Chloe ran up to me and grabbed my arm.

"Nathan! It's time to go to work! Come on, you can't be late." She began marching down towards the door. What's with this girl, she's too controlling!

I yanked my arm away. "Would you give me a minute?" I asked angrily. I felt like I was babysitting a child that throws tantrums all the time.

Chloe let go of my arm in silence with an annoyed look on her face. I can't wait for her to tell me off for that in the car- I mean- her limo.

I went to Mari's seat and gave her a big hug. I wish we could stay like this.

"Na-Nath?" Mari said curiously.

"I'm so sorry Flower, as much as I want to walk you home, I just can't today." I apologized sincerely.

"I know... it's okay though. Are you- working with Chloé, by any chance?" She asked.

"... yes." I admitted. I leaned in to whisper to her. "I really don't want to, but I have no choice. No one else is willing to hire me and I need this." I didn't want to tell her why, I wanted to surprise her.

Mari folded her arms. "Really? After everything that happened with her? I don't like this."

"What makes you think I like this? I wish I could've been hired somewhere else, but it'll only be for a few days and then I'll quit. Besides, I'll do my work seriously so don't worry about her. I don't think she's allowed to intervene with me as I'm working." I assured Mari.

Mari looked at me and paused before she replied. "Fine. But if something happens again... I don't know if I can do this anymore." She picked up her bag and walked away.

No, wait! Mari! It shouldn't be like this, there has to be another way. I felt a jab at my heart.

Before I could go after her and just call off the whole thing, Chloé clung onto my arm again. "She said it was okay! Isn't that great? Let's go now." She dragged me out of the classroom and practically pushed me into her limo.

I had a headache at this point. Can I really survive these two weeks? I stiffly sat in the limo the whole ride to her huge hotel. It was like I entered a different world, it was so out of place from the casual streets surrounding it.

Chloé entered the hotel and walked past the lobby man without saying a word. She stood by the elevator and pointed at the buttons.

"Your job is to basically do everything for the person staying at the hotel. You need to press this button to open the elevator door for them, so do it right now." She demanded.

I felt annoyed. Without responding, I pressed the button and stepped back. A few moments later, the elevator opened. Chloé stepped inside and held her hand out before I could move.

"You aren't allowed to enter the elevator with the guest. You have to take the stairs or a different elevator. Either way, make sure you're at the exit of the elevator on whatever floor they'll be on with their bags and everything before they get there. Good luck." She smirked at me.

"Wait- wha-" before I would respond, the elevator door shut closed. I stood there shocked. Then I saw Chloé's bag on the floor next to me and I picked it up. I looked for another elevator but they all had people waiting for them. I ran up the stairs to the floor her room was on. Luckily, I was able to remember what floor it was on based off the view I saw there last time I was here. My luck ran out then, because her room was on the very top floor.
