THE HOMECOMING!

CHAPTER II

As Daniel enters the old farmhouse, Toby and Nell are eating some hogback and grits. Nell is scared it's a robbery, but Toby never blinks, looking at Daniel in the eyes while his right hand slides under the table and he pulls out a twelve gauge! Standing up now, Toby pulls the hammers back on both barrels and told Daniel "Buster, you so much as sneeze and I'll paint my living room red with your blood! My name's Toby Hollingsworth, and I'm the baddest s.o.b. in these parts! Now what are you doing here? Speak before I blow your right leg off!"
Daniel doesn't say anything, just smiles. Nell is so nervous she drops her coffee cup, causing Toby to glance her way, and Daniel moves and is in front of Toby now with the shotgun pointed his heart!

"What the hell do you want here, ya grinning possum!"
Daniel doesn't do anything...then suddenly says "I'm your son!"
Toby and Nell both are in shock at the news, and Toby begins to shake a little while Nell begin to sob. Taking a couple steps back, Toby falls  backwards over his chair.
Daniel grabs the shotgun and hits Toby with the butt end, knocking him out!

Sitting next to his mom, she fills him in on why they put him and Tommy up for adoption...Toby said too many mouths to feed. She continues on, about the physical and mental abuse she's endured for nearly 40 years. Their son, Franklin, and Daniel brother, is the chief Inspector of the Sheriff's department in a combined three town Parrish of Olesburg. Daniel absorbs every tear stained word from her, taking mental notes. He stands, grabs his father and plops him in the chair. Bringing another chair over, Daniel proceeds to tie his father up between the two chairs, wrists to one and ankles to the other while 'laying' in between them. Sitting back down next to Nell again, Daniel asks if he abused Frankie, sexual like. Nell disagrees but she suddenly gets a look of horror on her face... Daniel presses, goading her to talk.
"Um...see, after you and Tommy were sold to that Mississippi couple, next come Frankie. Couple of years later, I gave birth to my only daughter, Abigail. But by this time your daddy..."
"Don't call him MY daddy!", Daniel snarls, his blue-green eyes glinting in the sunshine coming in the windows.
Visibly shaken, Nell stops talking, leaning back and digging at her fingernails.
"Momma, I'm sorry...I..I didn't mean to snap at you like that. Would you continue telling me about my sister, Abigail?"
Sighing, she drops her hands down beside her, looking towards the open front door.
"She was a bit different...she had lots of trouble in school, the kids called her stupid and retard. We wouldn't know until one of them head doctors told us she is paranoid schizophrenic. Put her on high priced medicines we couldn't afford, and she became very with drawn, went into that gothic stuff. Until, last year, some of the girls decided to have some fun with 'mean ol' Toby's dumdum daughter', and they cornered her and beat her badly, talking about get you some more of your bastard dad's love! Well she stayed home a couple of days, but insisted on going to school. She went to one of the janitor closet and slowly throughout the day set it up so she could set the school on fire... and did! She burnt that thing to the ground, killing 17, including those girls that hurt her! She's down in Southern Seagull Sanitarium.
Daniel now has a look of contempt and hatred. Glancing at his 'dad', Daniel walks around the kitchen grabbing various items.
A splash of cold coffee in the face, and Toby angrily says to Daniel "When I get free from this contraption I'm going to beat you within an inch of your life! You hear me, son!?"
Daniel reaches for a butcher knife, rips the shirt on Toby open and proceeds to cut his left nipple off, and shoves it in Toby's mouth!
Toby spits it in Daniels face, which enrages him! So he unbuckles the belt and yanks Toby's jeans and underwear down to the ankles! Sticking the blade between his legs he puts the edge of the knife in the middle of his testicles, and tells Toby "You ever wonder why they don't do public castration of child molesters? Because the public doesn't have the balls to watch! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
Daniel proceeds to slice in between them grinning as Toby screams! Daniel grabs a large pair of pliars, and really puts the squeeze to the oh so tender pieces of manhood! Toby writhes and hollers, crying out loud for mercies!
Daniel continues until Toby passes out. Sitting next to momma again who has her back turned to everything, and he puts a gentle hand on her shoulder, but she pulls away, saying in a low sobbing voice "You... your just like him..evil! Did that get you anything worth doing all that to your own father?"

Daniel standing now, helps his mom up and takes her to their bedroom where she collapses on the bed. Going back downstairs, Daniel walks out back and discovers an old welder gear , torch and gas tank. Grinning that devilish grin, he walks back in setting the stuff on the kitchen table. Sitting down he eats some of the hogback and grits. Soon, Toby stirs. When he opens his eyes, he sees the large welder mask and the lit torch, the bright blue fire burning, and Toby knows what he is in for now, and tells Daniel "Go ahead, do your worst! It ain't gonna make me beg you for nothing!"
And so Daniel slowly brings the torch towards Toby's face!
