This isn't a beacon for attention or a cry for help.
This is a reflection on the life of my dear friend, Ethan Herring.
I am Julia Carter, I am a senior at Carlton Prep, which is posh for "We don't give a s*** about you or your feelings goodbye". My school is one of the most talked about schools in the UK, and not for a good reason. We have the largest suicide toll out of all the schools in Western Europe. Nobody really knows why but everyone at this school seems to be in a settled depression, even the teachers.
Since the school first opened in 1982 there has been a grand total of 18 suicides and 8 unknown deaths but the death that had the whole school shocked was the death of Ethan Herring. Ethan was an all round type of guy. Great at sports, straight A student, done charity work and wasn't bad looking either, but I saw straight through his act when I caught him cutting in the west wing one summer. He begged me not to tell so I never did. I wish I had told someone now maybe someone could have helped him, gave him a life raft to stop him from sinking, or drowning...
