Well, Merida was a strong, independent women who's looks didn't matter. But when the art for Merida was released, she was rendered skinner, sexier, and revealing her shoulders.
As said before, Merida was a strong role model for girls. But thousands of mothers went on an outrage when they see Merida being 'sexualized' in a such a way. Ergo, they sued Disney.
