I was sitting in class, listening to the other girl bibble and babble about who knows what, while I just sat there. Mouth shut, eyes focused on my book as I read line after line, paragraph after paragraph, page after page, chapter after chapter. This was BETTER than ANYTHING the others were talking about.

I mean, who would want to listen to girls go on and on about shoes, clothes, designers, bags, tans, hair, eyes, faces and the list goes on and on. Why not talk about the latest book? Or chapter an author has written? Or about how life is? I mean ANYTHING would be better than what they’re talking about.

“Jess…” did someone say my name?  …nah

“Jess…” I think I might be hearing voices…

“JESS...” I look around and don’t see anyone looking at me. Okay… I think I might need help because I’m differently hearing something. 

 

“JESSICA!” “WHAT?” I yell back to the air and take my headphones out. I feel a poke on my shoulder and I turn around and see my friend Amy standing behind me. “Hey, Amy” “You notice me now?” she sighs. “Whatever… anyway did you see the new guy?” “No, I didn’t even know that there was a new kid.” Just then the door to our class room opens and….
