1 month later. Riley's P.O.V

I hadn't spoken to Alexa since Yas was in hospital. Yas and I hadnt gone to school since that night and I could tell Yas was on edge today about going back, and honestly; So was I. I had to face Alexa today and I wasn't looking forward to it at all.

I picked out a black pinafore skirt with a white thin long-sleeved top, some black leggings and then my black slip on vans. I put on my makeup which I had barely touched in a month and I looked completely different to what I was used to looking at in the mirror. I walked into Yasmin's room. She was sat on her bed in deep thought.

"You okay?" I frowned as I plonked myself down onto her bed.

"Mhm, yeah. I'm just scared to have another fit like that. If mum found out, she'd make me wear that stupid helmet again."

I laughed. "I will not let that happen chick. No one is putting that helmet back on your head. As much as I'd like for you to walk around in bubble wrap you're a teenager who has an amazing reputation in school for being one of the popular kids on her first day. I will not let anything jeopardise that!"

Yas let out a giggle. "Thanks' sis. I don't know what I'd do without you."

I smiled. "Have a fit and then sleep it off on a pavement until I find you?"

she gave me a shocked look and then laughed. "Fuck off or I'll stab you with my tweezers."

We both laughed her threat off, She came to me wrapping her arms around my neck for a good ole sisterly hug. It felt nice. I felt appreciated. Yas knew that I cared about her and I'd let no one hurt her, not even herself. She knew she could trust me. It made me happy that she felt like that.

"C'mon chick, we'll get some breakfast on the way."

She beamed a grin at me. "You're the best."

I shrugged her off. "I know, chick. I know."

We went to the Café on the way to school. I placed our orders to the cashier and then we had our breakfast ready. We sat down in a small booth and tucked into our food. After we finished I checked the time. "Time is going so slow today. I just want this day to be over with, so we can catch up on all the work we've missed."

Yas looked at me. "Oh my god. There's going to be so much work." Her eyes widened a fraction and her mood dampened.

"Hey, don't worry. It will be fine. We're both in the same boat and I'm not going to let it sink."  Yas laughed.

"You're such a nerd!" I gave her a shocked expression. "Me? Nooo." I said sarcastically. She chuckled. A beautiful sight caught my eyes and I instantly snapped my attention to it.

Alexa. She looked stunning. Her fringe was straight, her hair was straight, and her makeup was perfectly applied. She had a white floral jumpsuit on with beige boots. She looked beautiful. I could feel my heart trying to jump out of my ribcage, but I kept my eyes on her, I think she sensed my eyes on her because her gaze turned to me.

I snapped away looking at Yasmin who was on her phone. I looked up and Alexa was standing above us. "Hey Riley and Yasmin. It's great to see you two back!" she smiled.

I could tell she was nervous, but she hated the awkwardness. I smiled. "Thank you, yes it's good to be back."

I tried to look away, but I couldn't. We locked eyes and then her eyes travelled to my lips and I could see her shudder. I stood up. "Why don't you join us? I was going to get another coffee for us because we're early."

Alexa beamed. "Thank you. I'd love to." Yasmin eyed the pair of us and then laughed.

I bought our three Americano's, walking  back to the booth where Yasmin and Alexa were talking.

I pushed the coffee's in everyone's direction, my eyes shifted to Alexa who was absent mindedly staring at me across the booth.

"Miss Scarlett. How much work have we got to catch up on?" Yas asked.

I was surprised Yasmin was even thinking about school work I smiled weakly; because I knew Yasmin only said that because she felt like a third wheel.

"Oh, you've got quite a lot of work to catch up on...I shouldn't be telling you girls this, but the staff members are thinking of getting you guys catch up classes' because they understand your situation and they don't want to see you two fail."

Yasmin and I's jaws dropped. We turned to each other and we laughed seeing the same expression on each other faces. I threw a sugar packet at Yasmin who three it back with attitude, the raven haired sat patiently smiling at us. There was something on her face that I couldn't read. Longing maybe?

I wonder if she had a sister or any siblings. I looked at my phone. "We better get going. See you later Miss Scarlett."

She smiled weakly. "See you."

I locked eyes with her whilst picking up my coffee and walking out. I could feel her eyes on me. I turned around to see her eyes roaming my body. I grinned as she realised shed been caught, her cheeks turned a crimson colour and her eyes darted away from my djrection. Maybe today wasn't going to be a total disaster after all.
