"You're gonna stay with me, just up until we find you a place for yourself, Kelsey's already looking. I know how overbearing I can be, and you and I living together sounds like a recipe for trouble," Mike teased, his hands at the steering wheel, glancing at Demi every chance he could just to catch her reaction. He wanted to make her smile, he knew today had to be rough for her. The tear stains being the biggest tell. "We'll prob throw parties every weekend, knowing us." Demi nodded, her eyes glued to her phone as she continued typing away to the one guy she wanted to see. The one guy she needed to see.

"What are you— planning our party now? You just moved in and you're already trying to throw a rager?" At that point, Demi had to take her eyes off her phone just to laugh at what Mike said. Mike smiled with pride, happy to see just even a temporary smile on her face. He knew this was hard for her. He knew stability was one of the most important aspects of her recovery, but he also knew better to know the thing she needed most was independence; now she was finally getting a taste of it. All in all, he was happy she made the decision she made. It was necessary for both her and Wilmer.

"Who even says 'rager'? Why are you such a grandpa?" Mike dropped his jaw playfully and scoffed for emphasis.

"Just for that, you're sleeping on the couch. I'll be sure to leave your shit in the front yard too. However keep in mind, sanitation picks up garbage at 5 am so it might all be gone by tomorrow morning," Demi laughed and shook her head at Mike's words, her laughter simmering as she once again got lost into her cellphone. Her eyes were steady focused onto the 6-inch display. At this point, Mike had enough, he needed to know who was stealing her attention away from him.

"So.... who ya texting?" He cutely asked, he knew this angle would probably work best when it came to Demi. He's known her for 5 years already and she was always super tight lipped about things like that.

"Hmmm, wouldn't you like to know," Demi cutely replied, a grin capturing her face. Mike, who'd had been staring at her through the rear view mirror, couldn't tell if the grin was brought on by what she had just said or if it was because of something she'd been looking at on her phone. Suddenly, her eyes flickered to his in the mirror and she began laughing aloud again. "You're so nosey!" she accused, as she doubled over in more laughter. Mike rolled his eyes.

"Well you look awfully happy for someone who just broke up with someone and I'm curious as to why, and I know that whatever it is that's making you smile, or should I say, whoever it is, they must be very important." Demi smiled wider.

"They are very important." Mike arched his brow.

"So, it's a 'they', interesting..." Demi laughed again, shaking her head and taking a deep breath.

"It's a guy— whom you already know. Is that enough of a hint?" She smiled at Mike through the rear view mirror again.

"Oh, that narrows it down to a few. Most of the guys you know either work for you or work around you. And now that you say that, it's already obvious who it is..." Demi's eyes widened, her heart rate quickening. Had Mike known? She wondered to herself.

"It's not J-"

"-Nick, right?" Mike interrupted before Demi could finish her sentence. Demi bit her lip, frustrated with herself for almost blowing her own cover. "You guys are planning your tour and everything, so a-duhhh." Demi smiled uneasily, she didn't know whether to be honest with Mike or just let him assume what he wanted. At this point, she wasn't sure whether she should tell the truth or not. It wasn't like it was some big secret either, but at the same time, Mike had the worst big mouth and she refused for him to ruin something before it even started.
