Chap 10

"Right," he said as he crouched down for me to jump off. We were in a clearing surrounded by trees and roots, but it was bright, "We're here"

"Wow, it's beautiful." I said, amazed.

"I know, I come here quite a lot, it's peaceful," he sighed, " and it's the only place I can be myself."

I walked across the clearing to the other side, slowly taking in everything around me and sat on a bent over branch that looked comfy enough, Chase walked towards where I was sat and crouched down to my level, "Ready?" he asked, a smile growing on his lips.

"Go ahead, show me what you've got"

He walked to the side of the clearing where we had just come out from and dissapeared into the darkness. I saw something blur past me then to my left I heard the leaves of a tree shake, I looked in the direction where it came from, it had gone quiet, then I saw Chase leap out of the top of the highest tree I could see and land firmly on his feet, crouched, ready to spring. He ran right at me but as I watched him with my eyes dazed, he was like a God. He jumped right over me into the tree above. I felt a tap on my back, I spun around to see nothing, I raised my eyebrow and turned back around to find Chase in my face, with a smirk he turned and ran off at lightening speed, I felt the wind blow my hair. He stopped smack bang in the middle of the clearing. He looked like he'd calmed down a bit which made me giggle to myself, I loved how he could be himself around me. I wasn't even scared. Honest.

I got up, my eyes leaving his face. I looked back at him and he was gone, I heard snickering behind me which made me turn around. I saw him, stood next to a huge tree he had his arms placed around it, he looked like he was hugging it, that made me laugh. He winked and ripped the tree out of it's roots and launched it into the air throwing it so far into the distance behind me that I didn't even hear it land. I was impressed.

"You okay?!" he shouted in my direction.

"I'm fine!" I shouted back, and truthfully I was. It was fun to watch him.

I began walking towards him. Deep in the forest. He was stood with his back to me, I crept up on him thinking I was going to make him jump for a change and just when I was about to put my hands on his shoulders to make him jump he was gone. I spun around looking for him when I face planted his rock solid chest, "Ow!" I flinched back.

Chase just laughed. Typical of him.

He picked me up and flung me over his back without a word and ran. We were soaring through the trees, I was enjoying it, loving the breeze through my hair when I was interupted, Chase came to a sudden hault making me shoot forward an slam into his back.

"Sorry," he said when he realised my hold on his shoulders had tightened.

I looked up from his back to see, not too far from where we stood, a group if men all huddled in a circle kicking and beating something in the middle, I squinted my eyes to try an see what it was. I gasped. It was a man, he looked quite young maybe middle 20's, he was curled up in a ball protecting his face and scrunching in pain from the kicks in his stomach.

Chase put me down slowly with a "Wait here" and a nod as he shot off towards the group pulling the six memebers of the gang off of the victim. Pulling them off one by one at the speed of lightening and throwing them so the fell unconsious giving him enough time to rescue the victim, but as Chase got to the last gang member I heard a gun shot and screamed, screamed for Chase, who I thought was dead but the bullet apparently made no effect to him at all, Chase just carries on walking towards the man with the gun into the forest, I was actually feelin sorry for the man with the gun, Chase looked mad and dangerous. No wait I didn't feel sorry for him, I felt proud of Chase.

When I saw the coast was clear I ran over to the injured victim I gagged at what I saw. He was covered in blood, his face was all muddy from the ground, his lip was split open with blood pouring out, he had a huge split in his forehead which was again pouring out with blood, I could see his nose was broke and again covered in blood. I looked down at his chest where his once white shirt was now blood stained red, his arms were clutching his stomach and he was groaning out in pain but I couldn't do anything, I felt helpless. I dropped to my knees reaching out with my hand to touch his forehead when I heard the falled leaves rustle behind me, I looked up and foun Chase, his face all twisted up, but it didn't freak me out, I knew what he had done to the man with the gun but I was relieved he was safe. I blinked and he was knelt beside me picking up the man.

"I'm gonna run him to the car, I'll be back for you, will you be okay?"

I nodded and he was gone.

I decided to myself i would start walking in the direction that I came.

After a few minutes arguing with myself over which way to go I found myself lost. I was stuck in possibly the middle of the forest not knowin where the hell I was and how to get back to Chase.

I saw something move in the distance, it was moving towards me. Panicing I turned around and ran, I didn't know what it was but I didn't feel like meeing it. I jumped over fallen branches and elivated roots and dodged trees, when I thought I was far away enough I stopped and looked behind me, there was nothing there apart from trees and the odd bird. I spun back around to see Chase staring at me with a raised eyebrow. I shock my head and we began walking to the car.

After about 10 minutes of walking I got bored, we were nowhere near any openings and I was beginig to question Chase's direction.

"Wouldn't it be easier if you just carried me and ran?" I asked curiously.

"Probably," he nodded, "but that would be lazy." he answered me, staring straight ahead.

"But don't we need to get back for that man?"

He scratched his head, "Erm, he kinda didn't make it, he asked me to put him down on the ground so I did, and then he just shut his eyes and I couldn't hear a heart beat anymore. That was until I heard yours getting faster as you began to panic so I came rushing to find you." he explained to me.

"Aww, poor guy." I said sadly.

"Atleast he's not in any pain anymore those damages were pretty serious anyway."

I nodded.

"What were you running from anyway?" he asked, looking at me.

"Well, I started walking to find the car but I couldn't find it and I got lost and I saw this like big shadow and I didn't wanna find out what it was so I ran." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Okay then." Chase said, finishing that conversation.
