The Devil's Road- Original Concept

The Legend

Everyone knows that the Devil's Road is the most dangerous road in town. Men, women, and children have gone down that dark paved path, and never came back, the only signal that they were remembered the gravestones in the cemetary- worthless stones, that didn't console the families. No one forgave the forbidding hum that seemed to constantly leech the light from anything as you passed that turn.

Legend says that if you made it back off of the road alive, you would come back haunted, traumatized, and insane. Some knew this first hand; Taya, for example. Her little brother had once wandered out onto the road, chasing a cat, and ended up down the road. He had come back, insisting of "Christopher" following him. The thing was, there was no other small child following her brother; just an empty shadow. 

Taya's mother took it as an imaginary friend, claiming he was just having fun, but then, weird stuff started happening. Doors would open and close at late in the night. The cupboards would suddenly open and food would be knocked out, but only on the shelves on the floor. That's when Taya started to doubt her little brother's "imaginary friend."
