"She's awake! Honey, she's awake!" I can hear my mom yelling at who I'm assuming is my dad, which is confirmed when I hear him yell for a doctor.... wait, DOCTOR?! Am I in the hospital? My vision is completely clear by the time a nurse and a doctor rush in the room. Turns out I cant talk because I've been intubated. They shine a penlight in my eyes and I follow it to show that is conscious and alert. They take the tubing out and I take a sip of water to help ease the burning in my throat. Then a sharp pain shoots through the top of my forehead. I reach up and feel gauze wrapped around my head and the tug of an IV in my arm. My voice is hoarse but audible. "What... Happened?" Every syllable burned but I was confused. The doctor said I smacked my skull on concrete and fractured it. That would explain the sharp pain in my head and the unconsciousness. After the doctor left the room my mom and dad explained to me that on my late night walk when I fell I hit my head on the sidewalk and the fracture caused some swelling so I've been in a coma for 2 weeks.... How wonderful... (sarcasm). Then I was in and out for a few hours. After I finally woke up again my parents were talking to the doctor outside my room and someone was sitting n the chair next to my bed. It was a guy. I almost thought I was having the dream again. His golden hair hung over his face, his head was down but he heard me move and his head shot up and there they were. The emerald that could put all of China to shame. A strong blush rushed up to my cheeks and I tried to concentrate on his aura... but it wasn't there. It was just him. The only color even close to the aura I had once seen was the blush that also spread across his cheeks.
"Hi, um, I'm from your class..." it was just above a whisper but I could hear him perfectly. "I know, I've seen you before. although I'm afraid I never caught your name." I could feel my palms clam up. "I only know yours because of attendance. Tyler, by the way. My name is Tyler." I found myself still searching for the aura... I guess that was just.... a dream.
After healing up and going back to classes, apparently, I was missed by a few of my classmates. There were all these get well soon cards and notebooks with all the work I had missed. I thought everything would go back to the way it was before the accident but actually, it turned out more like the dream I had in the coma. Even my little sister came here from out of town to see how I was doing. And it's safe to say that Tripp wasn't very happy with my being gone. He was so excited when I came home. Waiting at the front door, like always.
