Chapter 18: The Uruk-hai

I threw my things on the ground and puffed out air as I stretched, my body was stiff from the long boat ride and I was glad that we could have a short break before moving on and into Emyn Muil which was a maze of stone that we could easily get lost in.

"That is our road." Aragorn said, rolling his eyes at Gimli who had been going on about how rough the road ahead was going to be. If he didn't want to be here, he was free to leave. I scoffed and walked up  the beach to the edge of the forest where Legolas was watching the forest warily.

"We should leave now." Legolas said quickly once I came to his side, I raised an eyebrow and nodded. "I feel the same, I feel watched." I whispered, the forest edge was guarded by stone sculptures that had long since been taken over by nature and were now covered with vines and decayed.

The crunching of small pebbles under foot made me spin around, Aragorn arched his eyebrows at Legolas and I. We probably seemed strange to be staring off into the forest and away from the rest of the Fellowship.

"I think we need to be moving now." I sighed and glanced over at Legolas who was watching Aragorn closely. Aragorn shook his head briskly, not even thinking about the option.

"Orcs patrol the eastern shore, we must wait for the cover of darkness." He said quickly, looking over his shoulder at the other side of the river.

"It's not the eastern shore I'm worried about," Legolas piped up, Aragorn turned his head slowly and narrowed his eyes. "A shadow and a threat has been growing in my mind, something draws near..." Legolas's voice trailed off as he looked back into the forest then back at Aragorn, "I can feel it." He whispered.

I shook my head and walked back down the beach, sitting down where the group had decided to make camp, against a large, decayed stone that had once been part of some sculpture.

Merry bounded over to us from out of the forest with wood held in his hands, he plopped it down and rubbed his hands together proudly. I laughed at how he was reacting to his huge accomplishment of gathering firewood.

Merry jerked his head around as if he was looking for something that he had lost, "What is it?" I raised an eyebrow, expecting some ridiculous answer from the hobbit that took himself as a comedian.

"Where's Frodo?" Merry asked, looking between the members of the Fellowship as if he was hiding behind one of us. Sam, who was half asleep, jolted up and his head spun around as he looked for his friend.

"Aragorn," I said nervously as I noticed that Boromir was also missing, Aragorn spun around. Raising an eyebrow as he saw the distraught hobbits looking around for their friend, I gestured to the brown and silver shield that had been left behind causing Aragorn's shoulders to drop.

"Legolas. Gimli." Aragorn called them over to his side, I put my hands on my hips as I tried to come up with a plan to find Frodo, hopefully before Boromir did. There was an air of anxiety and foreboding, Legolas and I both felt that something else was coming.

"Legolas and Anaire, I need you two to head into the forest with me. We will split up that way we can cover more ground. Gimli, stay here with the hobbits." Aragorn ordered quickly, earning a nod from each of us. Sam seemed angry with the decision and I knew that he wouldn't sit around while his best friend was in danger.

Legolas and I jogged into the forest, trying to be as silent as possible and headed south while Aragorn ran straight and up a tall hill.

A desperate scream echoed through the forest, I froze and looked around frantically, trying to find the source.

"Boromir."
