I am about to embark on a journey. I suppose it is partly a journey to discover myself and to rise to this challenge to which I have committed my attention and focus. In other words, do I have the "Cojones" to stick with this. Well, it'll be mighty embarrassing if I give up, since I've been telling everyone about this "quest" into the dark and dangerous path of Haiku writing.
Well, it is not really dark and dangerous, just scary for me because I am not a poet "poet", as much as I'd like to think I am, I'm not published and I don't know whether I am any good. Regardless, I have committed myself. I must admit, I am the type of person who begins something and sometimes but not all the time, follow through. I've decided once and for all to follow through this challenge. If I succeed, it will be an accomplishment for me, a huge one, if not.......well......let's not think about that.
The goal is to write 100 Haiku in 100 Days. A simple, traditional Haiku of 5,7,5 or 17 syllable rule. I am not going much deeper than that. I suppose it will be the traditional way of writing Haiku with a contemporary and quirky edge. Once my goal has been achieved, I will buy myself something pretty, after all I must be rewarded after such an arduous task, right? Perhaps I'll buy some shoes or a nice handbag that I've had my eye on for a long time. Let's see what happens. Can I do it? Join me and let's jump together into the deep end of the pool without any floaties, shall we?
Okay, here we go.....cross your fingers......let's begin!!!
