This is it, it's the evening before the flight to Europe. It's a nice cool brisk Sunday, the moon I believe is shining down creating a magnificent moonlight scenery down below. How can one not love this, it's Canadian fall; the perfect time to dance around in falling leaves. Although it is a few days before November 21st, the first day of winter.

Currently I am just packing up any last minute things. Renae is here, well downstairs with Phoebe and Campbell packing their suitcases. While Renae, my mother, Renae's aunt, and myself are in Europe they're spending time with our lovely neighbors. Phoebe is with Mrs. Holland and Campbell with Mrs. Hunt.

Knock knock

"Come in," I muffle through my phone, as it is my mouth. The one and only Ms. Jones strolls through my room.

"Allison is here, she wishes to speak to you," my mom says half-hearted. My mom has lost it a little bit, I think she's taking Allison's cancer worse than Allison is. It's either that or she's been working too much.

"Thanks mom, for everything," I say grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze. Nobody realizes how much I appreciate this woman, she does so much for us three kids. A moment later she lets go and begins to her room.

I walk out of my room, down the flight of stairs, down the hallway and I'm face to face with my best-friend Allison McLeod. Her bouncy hair looks so flat, her eyes seem dead, she didn't seem like my best-friend.

"I just wanted to say have a safe trip," she smiles and whispers to me, she looks so bored.

"Al why are you acting so weird?" I blurt out, again with that nervous babble.

"What do you mean?" she redirects her attention to her ballerina flats, they were pretty but besides the point.

"Lately you've been extra Allison" not knowing where this is going, I splurge on. I'm really hoping this ends well and on good terms.

"Can't a girl just wish her bestie safe travels?" she questions. When you act like this I don't think so, you are freaking me out.

"Anyway I better get going, it's late," she beams while heading out the door.

"Yeah yeah," I say in utter confusion. What is up with that child?

"Sounds to me she's hiding her sadness," a voice behind me chirps and I can't register it instantly.

I turn around to a Renae with Phoebe's bright pink suitcase. She had a smile on her face, like she knew that it was exactly the point. Like she figured out some math equation no one knew the answer too.

"I mean, I know if I was diagnosed with leukemia and couldn't go to Europe with my best-friend to see Bruno Mars in concert, I'd be pretty upset," she basically mumbles, probably to keep me calm and collected. Honestly though, I'm glad she said it that's what I've been trying to avoid. I suppose Renae sees the real Allison because I don't think I do anymore.

* * *

We are currently waiting for Renae's aunt Shianne, who is suppose to be by gate 17 but it not. Our flight leaves at four and it's 3:38 AM; a girl can't deal with this right now.

"Aunt Shianne? Where are you?" she asks calmly into her phone.

"Hurry we're about ready to go through security," she speaks into her phone frustrated. She tosses her loose hair out of her face an plops to the floor. With that unicorn onesie and diry white Vans, she looks about five.

It's been ten minutes and no show of Shianne yet, this is getting intense. Wait, I see a women with long black hair like Renae, oh yes it's Shianne! Her attire is very airport friendly, sweats and a college sweater, Ray Bans and converse. If Shianne wasn't her aunt I'd think she was her sister.

"Okay you're here, we better get through security," my mom says looking at her watch. Since it was nearly four AM and the only other people here are business men, it shouldn't take too long.
