•Daisy's P.O.V•
I take in a deep breath and look at Jai who is standing in front of me. Even though I hardly know him I can't believe he's actually taking the time and effort to listen to what I have to say.
My eyes travel around the abandon house witch I now call my home. This place is filled with so many memories. There not all good memories though. Without this house I would be living on the streets, or even worse, with my dad.
I don't want to be living here anymore. Even though this place saved my life, I can't find the energy to live and survive like this.
"Jai?" I slowly whisper.
"Yes?" He's words are simple. I think he's just as shocked as I am.
"Can we talk about it somewhere else?" I look away from him slowly. He must think I'm disgusting. I'm living here and I'm always in these dirty old clothes.
His fingers slide under my chin and he slowly lifts my head so my eyes are looking in he's big brown ones.
"Sure" he smiles.
His smile is heart-warming smile. It's one of those smiles that make your day.
His hand reaches out, gesturing for me to grab it. I slowly slip my palm into his and helps me up.
"Where would you like to go?" He looks towards me and we make our way out of the house.
My finger nails run over my elbow and I scratch it until the itch is gone.
"I'll show you" I say as I fight my lips to crack a small smile. I just can't do it. I don't even see the point of smiling anymore.
He chuckles at me, I realise I'm making a ridiculous face. I try and smile but it just looks weird. I slowly turn away and a soft laugh falls from my lips. So quiet I could barely hear it.
We walk down the street in complete silence. Not an awkward silence but it isn't exactly comfortable. I get a feeling that he wants to talk and start a good conversation but he just doesn't know what to say or what to ask.
We make a small turn and we reach a park.
I always came here when I need air or to get away from tough situations. It's so welcoming and private, not many people come here anymore.
I look over at Jai and he's slowly making he's way behind me. His eyes travel around the park, examining each detail of this beautiful place.
The trees are bright and healthy and the flowers are blooming brightly. The area is clean and there is no graffiti in sight.
I cut across the green grass and walk along the stone path. At the end of the path sits a lake. I've swam at this lake a few times. It's really clean.
I sit by the side of the lake and look back and watch Jai as he makes his way over to sit beside me.
He sits down and smiles.
"This is such a beautiful place."
"Yeah" I smile. It feels nice. I actually smiled and it felt like a ton of bricks has been lifted off my shoulders. I thought I didn't have the energy to smile but the memories of this park has given me that energy and I was able to smile a real smile.
"It is really nice."
"So Daisy what did you want to say" Jai asked looking me in the eyes.
I take a deep breath and look at him.
"My mother died when I was one." I choke out quietly. "She died in a car accident."
"I'm so sorry." He interrupts.
"Thanks." I reply.
"Ever since she died, my dad would drink and take drugs. When I was three he started abusing me. I don't want to go into detail. Not yet." I tell him.
"But he abused me quite a lot and it got worse as I got older. That was until I turned eleven and got sick of it. That's when I left. I ran away and found that broken down house. It was my runaway place."
My words come out rushed as I explain to Jai what happened. I don't want to go on for too long and I don't want to give him complete details. I don't really know him yet but I enjoy talking to him and being around him.
"Wow." Is all he says. I guess it is quite a shock. "I'm so sorry Melissa. That must've been horrible for you to go through, but I'm here for you now if you ever need me, I'll be there I promise."
His hand slowly reaches across his lap and placed his hand and rested it on top of mine.
"I'm here to help you now and I will do anything to see that smile on your face." He says.
His words comfort me. I know we only just met but I know he means his words. I know that he'll actually be there for me, unlike my father.
I can just tell because of that sparkle in his eye.
"Thank you so much Jai." A tear drops from my right eye as I take in his kind words once again. He's just such an amazing person.
I really do hope that he keeps his promise and that he will be there for me. I need someone like him right now.
I think Jai is my chance of survival.
