We make our way back up the street until we reach the broken house that is my home.

I slowly make my way up the wooden steps and to the front door. I hear the soft footsteps of Jai walking behind me.

I turn around to face him. His hands are shoved in the pockets of his pants.

"Thanks Jai." I smile. "It really means a lot for you to be here."

"No worries." He shifts on his feet and I get the feeling that he doesn't know what to do.

"I would hug you but I'm really dirty." I mentally slap myself for saying that. He probably thinks I'm ridiculously weird now. I groan slightly and he chuckles.

His feet shift up the few extra steps towards me. His arms open widely and he engulfs me in a warm hug. I quickly hug bag and close my eyes, just enjoying the moment.

"You're not dirty." He whispers.

I giggle at his sweet gesture.

"I got to head home now." He sighs.

"Thanks again. I'll see you sometime." I smile and turn away. I open the rusted door and a loud creek comes with it. I turn around to find Jai already walking down the street. I smile at the scenes that just happened and shut the door behind me.

I sigh as I take in what my 'home' truly looks like.

A part of me hopes that Jai would stay with me the night or invite me to stay at his house but that's just my stupidity speaking. We only just met, there's no way he would do something like that. No matter how sweet he is, I don't think any person would be sweet enough to let a homeless teen in their house.

I plop down onto the dirty mattress and think about everything that has happened so far. Never did I think to meet someone like Jai that would actually care for how I feel. The sun is still out and bright so I guess it's not too late. Maybe around 3 or so.

My eyes become heavy and my body becomes week as I slowly drift off to sleep.

I shift in my sleep slightly until my eyes open. I blink a few times before opening them completely.

I prop myself up on my elbows and look out the broken window in the front of my house.

The sun is just beginning to set and a beautiful orange takes over the horizon.

I slowly lift myself off the mattress and onto my feet.

My arms lift above my head and I arch my back to stretch out my sleeping state.

When I look down towards my mattress I notice a backpack.

I become fearful if what could be in the backpack. I notice and little white piece of paper sticking out underneath the bag.

My hand reaches down towards it and I slide the paper out. I unfold it and begin to read the near writing that is on the paper.

Dear Daisy,

I have brought you all sorts of things in that backpack. I'm sorry I didn't ask for you to come over. I didn't find the courage to and I don't know what my mum would've said. But there is some food and clothes and other essentials in the bag for you. I hope you don't mind wearing my clothes.

See you around :)

~ Jai Waetford xx

I refold the piece of paper and place it on the mattress next to me. My fingers fumble with the zipper on the bag but I manage to open it.
