chapter one: happy birthday

I was leaving the orphanage. Today is my birthday I'm 18 they would have kicked me out anyways. I was walking to the nearby Walmart, that was where the nearest bus stop was, I was going to get away get out of this town I'm tired of being here. I made it to the bus stop and I sat down but it wasn't long before someone that knew me called my name. "Oh Ash!!! Ashely?!?! Is that you?" That's my old friend Amanda she stole my boyfriend. I really don't talk to her anymore she only comes and talks to me whenever Bram is around. Bram was like my only love.
"hey Amanda what are you doing."
"I'm just going to the movies with Bram."
Bram was standing right next to her, he was staring at me, he looked at me really worried. Like there was something wrong.
"So what are you doing Ash, why are you just waiting at the bus stop it's 12 at night they don't come around at this time."
"Well why are you going to the movies Amanda, with Bram. There is like nobody coming to the movie theaters at this time. Only the weirdos that want to do stuff in the movie theaters go here at this time. What are you planning to do with Bram I mean I know the movie theaters is opened 24 hours but do you really need to go at 12 at night."
"Well you don't need to know any of my business, what I do with Bram is what I do. I know you might be jealous because he chose me over you but he's my boyfriend I can do what I, cause I actually have parents."
"Though you have parents I still have more experience and am more wiser than you. I act like more of an adult than you do. not because you're younger than me it's because I actually take care of myself. I don't do things that I'm not supposed to do especially before marriage. I don't care what you do with him I stopped caring. You can do whatever you want it doesn't bother me, because it's not my body and it's not me going to end up pregnant. And just because you were my friend before doesn't mean you're my friend now it doesn't mean you can talk to me only when Bram's around."
"Well uh-"
Bram interrupted Amanda
"Ash I really need to talk to you please wait at the bus stop for me till after my movie is done I will send Amanda straight home but I really really need to talk to you. It's actually really urgent!"
"Ok Bram I'll wait for you here, try not to take long."
Me saying that really got on Amanda's nerve her face scrunched up as if she was angered by what we were both saying.
"Bram let's go we're going to miss our movie!"
She grabbed Bram's hand and pulled him away but Bram shouted
"Wait right there! Plz stay safe!"
Stay safe? Stay safe, this is the first time he told me to stay safe. Why is he worried. I don't really understand him even when we dated I didn't understand him he was a little strange. He is a very good looking guy but he was a little awkward and secretive. I walked towards the bus bench and I sat down pondering what he said. Stay safe. Why would he say that. Am I in danger. I can't be in danger there's nobody after me I don't really make enemies. The only one I've ever made mad was Amanda after I started dating Bram. But in the end bram's with her. So why would he be telling me to stay safe and be worried about me more than his girlfriend. Maybe this is just a little too much for me. Maybe I'm just overthinking things. That's it that's definitely it, I'm overthinking. I'll just wait here for him like I said I would do I got to wait for the bus in the morning anyways so why not wait. I sat there and I kept thinking about him saying stay safe but my eyes started to get heavy. I have to stay awake what if he comes and sees me asleep and leaves or something. I start started dozing off. So tired. No no no I have to stay awake. But... I'm so... Tired.
