Infinity
Chapter One: Rico
...
Four weeks ago, I was witness to alien weaponry falling to Earth. Four weeks ago, a war began. Four weeks ago, the one person I might love left, and four weeks ago, he and his people were placed on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s official list of enemies
This time, it wasn't just something S.H.I.E.L.D. could take care of. Civilians had gotten involved. It was like New York, but all over the world and much more dangerous, and unpredictable. You could be out for a walk, and suddenly a Destroyer could land right in front of you, or maybe none would attack anyone for days.
No news from Asgard. We had no idea what was going on. Our biggest hope right now was that they had been the ones to initiate the war, because anyone who could hijack the gods were bad news for us.
...
"Liao, we have a sighting!" I'd tell you that all of our energy was being put into figuring out when the next Destroyer would come, but that isn't true. They were unpredictable, and the way we could do was alert people. Right now, I was doing something that was immediate relief.
About four months ago had been the attack of the Dark Elves, and while Thor had done a great job of chasing them off, he had forgotten one thing.
Some dragon-like beast that enjoyed running around, chasing birds.
Unfortunately, in its quest to catch birds, it had destroyed a total of eleven cars, and killed one person. That was why it had to go.
"Where?" I asked, beginning to stand from the table I sat at. Shifting my phone to the other ear, I grabbed the plate that had held my breakfast, placing it in the sink.
The agent cleared his throat. "Ah, right here. In front of me."
"Are you new?"
"... yes."
"Right. Listen to me. Stay still, and as quiet as possible. Do not attack. Where are you?"
"I was scouting around where the Elf ship landed."
I nodded, shrugging on a tight jacket and my arrow quiver. "Thank you. I will be there in a minute." I hung up, immediately hooking up a ear piece in case the newbie needed to contact me again. I grabbed my bow and slipped out the door.
I was lying when I told the agent I would be there in a minute. It was a bit closer to ten minutes, but he was still alive, looking around curiously when I arrived.
"Where is it?" I asked warily as I approached the man.
"I don't know," he admitted. "It was snuffling around that hole in the ground there, and then it sort of disappeared."
"Great," I muttered. "Alright, I want you to do a sweep of the surrounding area, and contact me when you've determined whether it's clear or not."
"And you?"
"I have to get Jane Foster."
...
First thing you need to know about Jane Foster; she is dangerous. I suppose that's one reason Thor was drawn to her. Speaking of Thor, she was also now extremely mad at him, and S.H.I.E.L.D. for placing him on the enemy list. Trust me; I had told Fury that she didn't need to be informed, but because of her "close emotional attachment", she was told to stay away from him until further notice.
I believe the agent who told her was still in the medical wing. I had refused to be that agent.
Anyway, I was the only S.H.I.E.L.D. agent able to even get near her now, but convincing her to help out was a whole different matter.
