"So, where do we put our stuff?" Natsu asked, dropping his large suitcase on the floor of Lucy's apartment. After Gajeel had been attacked by whoever seemed to be hunting down the dragon slayers, Master Makarov had declared that they should all stay with another wizard until the matter was taken care of. As she had expected, Natsu had immediately proclaimed he'd be staying with her. They're here pretty much all the time anyways, so this won't be too different.
"Alright, listen up," Lucy said, pointing a finger at Natsu and Happy. "I agreed to let you two stay here only because there's some maniac out there who has been hunting down the dragon slayers. If you're going to stay here, we need to set some ground rules. I've seen your house, and I don't want mine looking like that."
"Like what?" Natsu asked, looking at Happy, questioningly.
"It was a mess! I cleaned it for you, and three weeks later it was back to the way it was before."
"We're guys," Natsu shrugged, "and we're usually out on jobs. We never have time to clean."
"Being a guy isn't an excuse," Lucy sighed. "Gray's house wasn't that dirty."
"You went to Gray's house?" Natsu asked, frowning. Lucy couldn't help but smile at how easily he got jealous sometimes.
"When we were planning your birthday party a while ago," she said. "He works just as much as us, but manages to keep his house clean."
"Fine," he sighed, "what are the rules?"
"We're going to split the chores. I do dishes every night after dinner, run the vacuum every other morning, clean the bathroom and kitchen once a week, and dust once a month. I assume you know how to do your own laundry, so we'll divide up the other chores."
"That sounds like a lot of work," Happy complained.
"One more thing," Lucy added, ignoring him, "I don't want you two eating all of my food. I have no problem cooking for all of us, but don't go overboard. Every time you visit it seems like I have to go shopping twice as much."
"Oh, wow, you're going to cook for us, Lucy?!" Happy exclaimed, excitedly.
She chuckled, patting his head when he hugged her. "Well I'm not going to let you starve to death while you're here. Besides, it will be kind of fun having you guys around."
"Alright, where do we put our stuff?" Natsu asked.
"I haven't had time to make space, so just give me a few minutes." She moved the clothes out of the bottom two drawers of her dresser, and shoved the hangers in her closet over, making some space in there in case he needed to hang up any clothes. "Okay, will that be enough room?"
"That's great," Natsu nodded, dragging his suitcase over to the dresser. "Thanks, Luce." He opened his suitcase, revealing only a few outfits. The rest of the space in the large bag was filled with food.
"Natsu," Lucy laughed, "what's all of that?"
"Oh, right. I forgot about that. We brought all the food from our house that might go bad. We didn't want it to spoil, and figured we could keep it here." Natsu answered.
"Oh, sure," she nodded. Lucy put away Natsu's food while he finished unpacking his and Happy's clothes. The few things they brought easily fit into the two drawers she had cleared for them.
"All finished," Happy announced as she returned to her bedroom from the kitchen.
"Same. My refrigerator is stuffed now, though."
"So, what's for dinner?" Natsu asked, lounging on her bed.
"First we're going to set up your bed," Lucy said.
