As he takes a seat, I try as hard as I can not to look over, but can’t help but stare.

He is absolutely flawless. He has beautiful brown eyes, and dark gelled hair. His cheekbones are clearly shown, and his teeth are perfectly straight and his smile is adorable. I notice he is wearing a black casual t-shirt, jeans and black converses. Before I can snap out of myself, he turns to me.

‘Hey I’m Ahren.’ He smiles politely at me and I immediately feel myself turning red in the face. His voice is thick but feels like it melts in my ears.

‘I’m Jess.’ I return the smile and hope he didn’t even realise that I was staring. I peel my eyes off him to concentrate on the teacher who is now speaking.

‘Hello students, my name is Mrs Webb and I will be your homeroom teacher for the rest of the year. I will also be teaching you for geography.’ She looks too young to be married. ‘I am going to give you ten minutes to get to know your class mates before we start class so we all feel more comfortable.’ She smiles brightly and everyone starts talking again.

‘Do you know a lot of people in this class?’ I realise Ahren is talking to me.

‘Uh yeah I was with most of the girls last year unfortunately.’ I let myself stifle a laugh and keep going. ‘None of them are really friendly to me but I don’t really care.’

‘In what way aren’t they friendly?’ he asks with a little bit of curiosity in his voice.

‘Just rude comments that I don’t really give a fuck about. Don’t worry, you will start to understand soon.’ I reply, hoping he doesn’t mind my choice of words.

‘Will be watching out.’ He smiles devilishly and winks at me. I don’t know what to do other than smile because it was the cutest thing I think I have ever seen.

‘So you’re new here?’ I ask in general.

‘Yeah, I lived in America for a little bit, but was only there for my dad’s job, but I wanted to move back home because I missed it.’ As he says this, 5000 questions pop into my head.

‘How long were you on America for?’ I ask.

‘A year and a half. It was a… interesting experience.’ He lets out a laugh and smiles brightly at me. For the next five minutes, we are deep in conversation about life in general and our interests until Mrs Webb interrupts us to begin class. I don’t listen too much throughout it because I can’t help but look over at Ahren. I would like to get to know him better.
