Harry
It was past midnight and the sound of loud police car sirens echoed down the streets as I ran and climbed up the massive oak tree. The tree was my hiding spot for whenever I'm on the run.
I loved the rush of running away, it's been a while since I've been running. I had to keep it low for a while recently, almost got caught.
My life was dangerous and it always kept me on edge
Madelynn
"Where the fuck is he?!" I yelled no one in particular as I banged my fist into the wall, making it bleed.
I started at the corkboard with pictures scattered all over the board and arrows pointing everywhere from the picture in the centre of the board. It was a picture if a young boy in a blue hoodie, it was slightly blurry and hard to identify who it was. He goes by the name Dinho.
He's only been spotted once, he was pretty good with not getting caught. He was only 21, a young age for a criminal. Then again, I'm 20, an even younger age for a detective. I guess I just got lucky.
A knock was heard and I signalled them to come in.
"Madelynn, you're bleeding." Chip sighed as he grabbed the first aid kit and cleaned my fist.
Josh Larkin, also known as Chip was my best friend, well more like my brother. We've been together since birth and we live together. The pair of us have been blessed to be working together despite us being young and knowing pretty much nothing. (I'll be calling him Chip to avoid the confusion with Josh/Zerkaa who will appear later in the story.)
"Sorry, you know me. I'm just stressed." I frowned.
"I promise, we're gonna find him and catch him."
"I hope so."
"I know so. Anyways, at lunch break I had a thought. Imagine if you and Dinho met and you fell in love. I mean, he's a pretty attractive lad looking at the blurry picture." Chip laughed at his own thought.
"Oh god, fuck off. What would happen anyways if it did happen. Surely I'd have to turn him in." I chuckled.
"Not necessarily, you could join him and become a criminal with him."
"But then you'd turn us in. You'll always win no matter what."
"Technically no. I couldn't turn my best friend in, I'd hate myself, you and Dinho would hate me too and Dinho would get his criminal friends on me and kill me. No thanks." Chip shivered at the thought of it.
"You think of the strangest things, don't you?" I laughed at his wild imagination.
"Of course I do, anyways it's 2am. I know you haven't eaten in a while and our shift ended 4 hours ago. Let's go home, I know you're cranky now, clearly." Chip spoke, holding my fist.
"You're buying food, okay." I smiled and kissed his cheek.
"Sometimes I hate you." Chip rolled his eyes as he helped me to pack up.
"Nah, we all know you love me." I ruffled his hair and ran out my office, him trailing behind me quickly.
"You're driving!" He yelled. No one was in the building so we wouldn't get into trouble.
"Whatever." I turned around and Chip threw me his car keys.
We got into the car and began driving around, finding anywhere that sold food and was opened at this ungodly hour.
