"There is no way in hell i'm dancing." Stated Keith who was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed and a pissed look on his face. The truth was Keith did surprisingly enough want to dance, however why he refused to will be revealed later.
"Come on it's not that bad!" Persisted Pidge as she tried to convince him to dance.
Pidge, Hunk, Allura, and Lance had all been enjoying themselves at the school dance, but their friend Keith was not and no intention of dancing that night. So they had been trying to get him up by any means possible. At one point they all snuck up on him and tried to actually drag him to the dance floor. All I'm going to say is Hunk was now holding an ice pack on his left cheek and Allura was holding one on the right side of her jaw.
"Listen Keith my mission is to get you to dance with someone, anyone tonight. It could be a teacher for all I care!" Pidge was beginning to give up hope in her mission at this point. "Okay well you could dance with Coran!" Suggested Pidge.
"I don't want to be known as the kid that danced with the crazy science teacher." Said Keith with a tone that sounded slightly more pissed than usual.
"Well how about Lotor!"
"God no dancing with the principal is far worse than a science teacher."
"Um how about-"
"No." Said Keith sharply cutting Pidge off.
"I didn't even finish my sentence! I was gonna say Lance!" Exclaimed Pidge trying to cool off but failing horribly.
Keith's face flushed red. He had told Pidge and Allura about his crush but no one else.
Lance cocked his head towards Pidge then walked a couple feet closer to her.
"Why'd you guys say my name." After he finished his sentence he took a sip of his punch that he held in his hand in a way that made Keith's heart race. It was the littlest things Lance did that made Keith go crazy. Keith stared at his hand for a moment then looked into his eyes hoping he would just ignore it.
"I'm trying to get Keith to dance with someone. I was just naming people he could dance with."
"Well in that case," Lance turned and set his cup down on a table behind him. "Dance with me.~" Lance flashed his signature smirk that couldn't help but tempt Keith has Lance put out his hand for Keith to grasp.
Keith started at it for a moment once again and hesitated to grab it before he came to his senses and took Lance's hand into his own.
Lance's smirk grew a bit and he lead Keith to the dance floor.
Keith could feel the eyes of many people on them and he knew people would remember this as the one time Keith danced, but that wasn't his real problem. This was.
"Um Lance." Said Keith and as if on queue right when they got to the dance floor the current pop song ended and a slower song Keith didn't know started.
"Yeah?" Questioned Lance wondering if there was a problem.
"I uh...don't know how to dance." Said Keith quietly.
Finally the truth had come out.
Lance chuckled a little before he spoke.
"That's not as bad as you think it is! Look at the other kids! They have no idea what they're doing!" Keith looked at the other kids who were indeed failing at slow dancing and now that Keith thought about it most of the kids here were bad at dancing in general.
"I guess you're right." Said Keith looking into Lance's eyes. Lance then put his left hand on Keith's waist and intertwined his right hand with Keith's left hand.
Lance guided Keith's hand to his shoulder. Then they began to dance.
"You know I may not be Shiro but I can dye my hair like his." Said Lance in an attempt to flirt. Keith had told lance he liked Shiro who was one grade ahead of the two boys. He didn't really like him of course, but he didn't want to risk Lance finding out Keith liked him.
"So really all you do is step right then left to the music." Explained Lance who was looking at Keith even though Keith's eyes were starring at the ground.
"You know it's not considered polite to look down at your dance partner." Said Lance has he took his hand and placed it under Keith's chin then raised Keith's head.
Keith, for the first time in the hour he had been there smiled a genuine smile.
After about 3 minutes of swaying back and forth the song ended and the two separated. To Keith it felt the saddest moment of his life.
Then Keith walked back over to the wall and leaned against it with his arms crossed but his face looked almost like it wasn't pissed for once that night, because his aggravated expression had been replaced with a bright smile.
