"The small town of Hortonville has been bombed."
Everyone started going crazy when those words escaped the news man's mouth. Mrs. H was yelling and telling everyone to calm down. She walked up to me and said that I needed to go to the office. I was confused but I listened to her and headed to the office.
When I got there, both of my parents were standing at the main desk. They were talking to the principal. I walked up to my mom and gave her a big hug.
"Honey, the bomb landed in our neighborhood. The house is gone." Mom said in a quiet and sad voice.
They told me that they weren't there when the bomb went off because they were out eating lunch. I was thankful that they finally went out for once. If they didn't they would be dead.
We all went to my locker so I could get some things I kept in there that I needed. We left after I got everything. They were taking me to the underground bunker outside of town.
The outside of the bunker looks like a normal small barn in the middle of nowhere. Dad pulled the car into the big barn doors. We closed the doors then opened the hatch to the bunker. We climber the ladder down a long hole. The bunker was cold but once Mom and Dad turned on the power it started getting warmer. Even though it was only 1:00 pm, I was tired and wanted to take a nap. I headed towards the bed area, climbed onto one of the beds, then fell asleep. I was tired enough that the uncomfortable bed didn't stop me from falling asleep.AN: Just in case you didn't know, Hortonville was their home town. I have no idea if that is actually a real town name or not so don't get mad if it is.
