I woke up and bolted upright. Wait something's not right. I was back in my room. The bombing was just a bad dream. But everything about it seemed real. I looked at my alarm clock and it said 3:37 am.
"Sophia," I heard my mom's voice from the kitchen.
What's she doing in the kitchen at 3 in the morning.
"Sophia, wake up!" Mom yelled.
I bolted upright. The bombing wasn't a dream. It was real. Me being back in my bedroom was all a dream. I wanted to cry but I didn't.
"Sophia," Mom looked at me worriedly. "Sophia, are you all right?"
I nodded
"Go to clothing area, pick out an outfit, and get dressed," Mom told me as she pointed in the directions of the clothing area. "We have people from town coming to see if they want to stay here and be protected from the war."
I got up and started walking to the clothing area. The area had all types of clothes and sizes. I picked out a salmon colored romper with a bunch of little flower designs on it and some white sandals. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair. I straightened my hair and put it in a ponytail. Luckily it was May so it was warm enough to wear summer clothes. I would've had 2 weeks of school left for my Sophomore year but there had to be a war going on.
I walked to the ladder that lead to the barn. Mom was waiting for me there. She told me to wait there and greet people that are going to stay here. I was excited that other people would be coming. I didn't want to live here for a long time with just me and my parents. I hope Chloe is coming. Chloe is my best friend. Our parents have know each other since they were in kindergarten. So me and Chloe have known each other since we were too young to remember.
I heard footsteps coming down the ladder. I wanted to look up to see who it was but I didn't just it case if was someone wearing a skirt or dress. When they hopped down from the ladder and onto the floor I saw who it was.
"Chloe!" I yelled and ran to her. I gave her a big hug.
"Sophia!" We just stood there, hugging, for a little while.
