Anime Crossovers

For those who have read my stories I've created really good crossovers, such as Blood and Fire, Humanity's KeyBlade Wielder, Love Beyond the Void.

So how do my crossover ideas make good stories?

The first thing we need to address, is what is an anime crossover?

Anime crossover is basically when characters from different animes/mangas appear in the same storyline. The crossover basiaclly means since each anime/manga is a different 'story world' characters from different 'story worlds' cross over into another one and so you have anime/manga characters from separate shows appearing in the same story.

Now in the world of writing we have no concrete barriers. However, we need to be careful again in order to make the crossover into a good story.

You can choose any two animes or three and turn it into a crossover. But, which ones can you crossover?

Well, when I created Blood and Fire. I watched Tokyo Ghoul, Diabolik Lovers and K study the shows and see if the three had anything similar. Here's what they had the things in common.

*Setting took place in the modern times, and mostly was in Tokyo, Japan.

*The main characters in both shows find themselves in tough situations. One is thrown in a household full of blood thirsty vampires. One survives an accident, however his whole body changes into a new form and is force to embrace his new body, and the other becomes on fugitive being falsely accused of a murder he didn't commit.

*All series had special groups, or clans or organizations with a similar common goal.

So you can see that in the three animes that there is some common ground. Not much, but it's better than nothing.

However, what about if you wanted to combine something completely different that has no common ground whatsoever?

Well in my first crossover which happens to be Humanity's KeyBlade Wielder. I combined two titles which has no common ground.

Attack On Titan has no magic spells at all however it does have some mad science going on. Like using some sort of medicine or formula to transform people into titans. But there is no casting spells in the who series.

So how did I get the idea of crossing over Attack On Titan with Kingdom Hearts? The answer to that was a little inspiration from Attack On Titan.

I absolutely thought it was so cool when Eren came out of the back of the nape in a Titan. So I began to think, what would happened if a heartless took over a titan body? And that titan being possessed by the heartless could only be killed by a keyblade?

Bingo! There's the idea and that's how I combined the two together. So you might find something in the animes you love that can be an inspiration to combine the two.

Now in my other story in Love Beyond the Void there is some crossover happening in the story. The two games called Lamento: Beyond the Void and Togainu no chi are two games but, they are made by the same creators.

So if you know two shows that were made by the same director, or a game designer. That can also become a crossover as well.

In Blood and Fire I choose to follow along with the storyline of K and added the characters from Diabolik Lovers and Tokyo Ghoul. Even added a couple of scenes from Diabolik Lovers and Tokyo Ghoul.

So if there's an anime storyline that you love but, you want these characters from a different anime to follow along. You can do that as well, again there is no barriers when it comes to crossovers.

But there are some key things you need to remember.

*Make sure the characters from the series you've chosen don't go out of character. Again this is where you want to study the character to make sure how they would react to the other character from  a different series. So be sure to study, study the character.

*Don't loose sight of the plot of the story and don't drag it. I learned this the hard way, when I published Humanity's KeyBlade Wielder. It became a very long book, till it felt that it was dragging and there were several points where I lost sight of the plot. Because I wanted to see how this character react in this situation that they've never seen before. Then it got to the point where it felt like I was dragging the story. Don't let your story be dragged make it fun and enjoyable.

Alright! There you have it on how to make a good crossover.
