Sherlocks Pov
"Hmm.. would you look at this? Someones been stalking you!" John smiled in amusement as he observed his laptop screen."What do you mean?" I asked. I switched sides on the couch, facing John. It was the first time he'd spoken in an hour and a half. Apparently trying to have a conversation with him about the nature of frog mating didn't interest him.
"I've got several emails from the website from someone asking to contact you." His eyes continues to scan the screen, reading the emails. "Goes by the name sugarpuff329. Man, she-"
*Knock Knock*
"Oh! Maybe that's her!" John laughed.
"Just shut up will you and go answer the door." I replied. He looked at my with annoyedment. I always have enjoyed making him angry. All his little gestures and outbursts are quite entertaining.
"Hello. Umm, can i help you?" John asked from below.
I could hear a female voice but couldn't quite make out what she was saying. A quick moment later, though, she was entering our flat.
"Umm, Sherlock, there's a girl here to see you. Said she was sent to scope you out or something?" He looked at the lady for confirmation, but there was a hint of cunfusement in his face.
"Uh, yes. My boss sent me - he's heard of you in the papers - to see if you'd be any help, you know, with the police. I help investigate in their crime scenes." She looked a little uncertain, as if she'd made a mistake coming here. The way she kept looking around, and fidgeting, could perhaps mean she was lying. But why would she lie about why she'd come here? ..Unless she's really the stalker?.. No, stalkers don't visit the person their obsessed with, not usually. She was short, but taller than john. She had a pair of converse on, quite dirty, old jeans, and a relatively thin jacket. Strange, given the unusually cold fall. She must not live far then. Then there's her hair, pulled up into a quick ponytail. If she were really the stalker, she would have given more attempt to be attractive. She had plain features, no makeup, and the brownest eyes. She was a hard person to read, but maybe her story checked out.
"Umm, sorry, is there something wrong?" she asked, obviously feeling uncomfortable, although she was doing the same thing I was doing, scanning the other person.
John, standing behind her, looked at me, grinning and gesturing towards his laptop. Does he really still think shes the stalker? I nodded a sight no in his direction, which bummed him.
I stood up and closed my robe a bit more, today was a lazy day so I hadn't bothered dressing properly. "Thank your boss for showing interest, but I've already got a job."
"Oh, really?" She wondered, while looking around. She looked incredibly curious. Weird. Most people look disgusted or overwhelmed by my mess of... stuff.
"Yes, I was just about to work on something." I lied, as I sat down at johns laptop and began reading the emails, pretending to care about them.
"Sherlock! What did i say about you being so rude." John complained.
i looked at him and smiled. "Yes, I am sorry ma'amm. What is your name?" Anything to make John feel like hes making a dirfference with me.
"Alex." She was indeed very nervous. But why?
I raised my eyebrow.
"Umm, Alex Woods." She finally finished.
"Ahh, ok, and what did you say you do?"
"I work with the police. I'm an investigator too, or, whatever you call yourself." It was her turn to raise eyebrow.
"I'm a consulting detective, thank you. And please tell your boss im not interested." I turned back to the laptop.
"Well." she sighed, sounding disappointed. "Ok, then. Here's my number, if you change your mind. I'm always looking for someone to help me solve cases." She handed a card to John. "By the way, interesting apartment." And with that she was gone.
"Apartment?" I questioned. "She must be an American. Didn't have an English accent, either, ahh, of course, why didn't I notice?" I thought aloud.
"What was that about?" John questioned while he snatched the laptop from me. I sat back in the chair, taking my usual position. "And how do you know she's not the stalker?"
"Because John, she would have made her self more attractive for a, what do you call it? Special occasion." I replied sarcastically.
"What do you mean not attractive? She was very pretty. She seemed like she had an interesting job offer too. Why turn it down?"
"Oh please John, all the girls you like are plain." I said, ignoring his question.
"Are you calling Mary plain?" He puffed out, clearly this was infuriating him.
"Of course not." I said. He always does take things the wrong way.
He balled his fists and breathed in and out heavily, keeping his anger in. He does have great self control, sometimes.
"I'm going out." He grabbed his coat.
"Where?"
"I've got a date with Mary." He said as he walked out the door.
"Now?" I called after him.
"Yes, now!" He slammed the door shut behind him.
Eager that he was alone, I grabbed his laptop once again, and did a search on Alex Woods. She had intrigued me. I don't know what it was. Perhaps it was that she was harder to read then the rest, or was it that she was interested in what he was obsessed with? No, I don't know what it is.
After pressing enter, two links came up but both said they'd been deleted a few years back. Hmm, that's strange. Alex Woods, the most interesting thing that'd happened in the last couple boring weeks.
Hey guys! So sorry it took me FOREVER to update... haa. I've been re-watching the third season of Sherlock, since they put in on Netflix. (yeah!) and I've gotten some new inspiration! :) so ive been playing around with some future ideas on where this fanfic is going, so hopefully ill be writing a lot more often, given that its summer break too :)
i thought it was really fun writing in sherlocks pov. im going to switch between his and Alex every few chapters, but i was wondering, should i rewrite this same scene, (in chapter 3), but in Alex's pov? (to get her point of view in her first meeting with the great Sherlock?)
well, please leave thoughts, opinions, or suggestions in the comments, there much appreciated! :)
