Astrid's Pov

"He's trying to protect you."

"Well, he's doing a terrible job because I don't feel safe around that stupid-"

"Astrid! Language!"

"Sorry Heather, it's just, he never has time for me and whenever he does, he always moans at me for something. Even if it's not my freaking fault."

I was starting to get really mad. Not that I wasn't already a raging fire. But, it was nice to have some company. I hear a sigh from Heather as my father calls for her assistance.

"Astri-"

"*sigh* Go on..." She nodded and swam out of my so-called room.

I went to the nearest gap in the coral wall. It was my window. Yes, a window. I just stared off into the distance watching the other teenagers and Heather's brother Dagur play around with seaweed. It was dark. But it was mid-day. And you want to know why that is? It's simple, we're deep sea creatures. It was never like this. At least it wasn't when my mother was here.

"Gruuuu?"

"I'm ok Stormfly."

I was petting Stormfly and I looked up at the surface of the sea and saw something I had never seen before. Light. Sure we have artificial lights that light up the sea, but this, this was natural light. So, I looked around my darkened room and seeing none of the guards were there by my door, I silently and cautiously swam up to the strange light. Of course, Stormfly was following me so you can't say I was alone.

When I started to reach the shallower parts of the sea, I poked my head out of the sea slightly. Just above my eyes. And this place was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. I think it's called 'a beach'.

There are so many people here. I have to keep myself hidden. I glance to the left and I notice a small patch of rocks. Perfect. I swiftly move my tail as I pick up speed with the current of the water and make it to the rocks. Fortunately, it's a little cave of rocks.

"Stormfly? You here girl?"

"Gruuu!"

"Good. I can't remember the last time I breathed this amazing human air. It smells better than the salty air underwater. I turn around, seeing all the two-legged creatures having fun in the sand and the water. I suddenly remembered a song that got sung to me a couple years ago. I remember the person who sung it to me and his messy auburn hair, his grassy emerald orbs and his cute little freckles all over his face. Aaaah. Now, what was his name? Hittup, Hishup...Hic-Hicc-

"Hiccup.....It's HICCUP! STORMFLY! HIS NAME IS HICCUP!"

Stormfly just gave me a look that said 'You are crazy, so I'm gonna sleep.'

"Hehehehe....that song......somewhere only we know......

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting tired and I need someone to rely on

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on

And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
