Annabeth didn't want to go to school the next day. She and Percy hadnt gotten to talk, as her dad had called and said that her mom wanted to know why she wasnt home yet. Of course, Annabeth told her dad the truth, but asked him to not tell Athena.
It was weird, Annabeths father was calmer about Annabeth being with Percy than her mother was. Annabeth wished he was the over protective one. Athena was scary, and hard to please, but her dad was wrapped around Annabeths finger. She was his little girl, and he did the best he could to spoil her. She always kept her common sense though, even when they had more money than Drew Tanaka.
Annabeths way of avoiding school, was leaving, texting Percy, and asking him to pick her up. He did. She knew she technically wasnt supposed to be seeing him, but frankly, she couldnt have cared less.
"You sure your parents are okay with this?" Percy asked the moment she slid into his car.
"Who said they know? Now drive before they get Wise." Annabeth smiled at him.
Percy gave her a look that said 'have you lost your mind!?' but he started driving. It was a good thing too, becausw just before they turned the corner, Annabeth saw her mom appear.
She smiled, and Percy told her to do something she didn't realize was possible. "Roll down the top."
"What?"
"Its a convertable, oh, plug your ears too, it gets loud." Annabeth smiled and pressed the button Percy indicated.
Pretty soon they were cruising towards Long Island, Annabeth sitting on the folded top of the 2008 dark blue, two seater, ford mustang convertible. Percy had an arm around one of her legs to keep her from flying off, and she held onto the head rests of the seats as the wind whipped through her hair. Annabeth cheered, smiling and laughing.
"Where are we going?" Annabeth called.
"The beach!"
"I thought you cpuldnt swim near New York?"
"Most places you can't, but theres a beach me and my mom go to every year, its beautiful!"
Annabeth smiled. "I dont have a swim suit!"
"Who needs one?"
She laughed and sit back into the passenger seat as her phone buzzed. She pulled out the cell and answered the call. "Hey, Pipes."
"Hey, where are you?"
"Long story."
"Okay?" Piper laughed quietly. "The teachers are pissed that you're gone. They're calling your dad. Your mom is gonna be furious."
"She doesnt know where I went, don't worry. Neither does my dad." Annabeth said, looking at the scenery as they passed.
"Are you with Percy?"
"Maybe."
"Ooh! Why are you such a bad girl all of a sudden?"
"Whose to say I never was one?" Percy raised an eyebrow, and Annabeth smirked. "Ill be fine, Piper."
Percy began to slow down the car, and Annabeth saw the white sand of a beach. "I gotta go, girlie, I'll call you later."
"Okay, do nothing too naughty."
"Same to you, Daughter of freaking Aphrodite!"
"Shut up." Piper hung up just as Percy stopped the car.
"Ready, Wise Girl?"
"Wanna race?"
"You're gonna lose."
"I wouldnt be so sure." She climbed out of the car, sliding off her shoes. Percy follaowed her lead, without removing his sneakers. "Ready... Set..."
She stopped, smirking. "Go!"
She took off across the parking lot, sailing through the heated sand, with Percy more or less waddling down the beach. Annabeth got to the water and kept going, smiling back at Percy when the water reaches her waist. He laughed, taking his shoes off halfway down the beach. He took off his shirt, leaving Annabeth temporarily stunned.
She hadn't seen him without his shirt, even at the ring. He still had his shirt on at the back of the alley path. Annabeth recovered as he reached the water and started swimming, going under the water for as long as she could before coming back up.
She looked around, trying to find Percy, but he had vanished. Her smile fell, and she called out his name. "Percy?"
No response. Something brushed against her foot, and she yelped, looking down. There was nothing there. Annabeth looked around some more. "Percy, this isn't funny..."
After a while, still nothing. Hesitantly, ahe started swimming back towards the beach. She got to where her feet barely touched the sand while her chin stayed above water before something grabbed her by the legs and lifted her out of the water. Annabeth screamed, and was dropped back into the water.
Almost immediately, arms arapped around her waist, and she broke the surface, clinging to a very cocky looking Percy Jackson.
"I'm gonna kill you!" Annabeth smacked his chest, and he laughed. It took a couple seconds for her to realize that they were practically plastered together. Annabeth pushed away slightly, blushing. Percy smirked, and pulled her back to him. "Stop..." She giggled in embarrassment.
"Why are you embarrassed?" He asked, using one hand to brush some wet hair from her face.
"Don't act like you don't know, smart ass."
Percy chuckled softly, and the sound vibrated from his chest into her body. Then he kissed her, his hands still pressing her body against his. She didn't know it was possible to be so close and still have clothes on.
As he kissed her, slow and deep, Annabeth wrapped her legs around his waist, holding herself up so he didn't have too. She'd kissed people before, nothing more than kissing, but those kisses paled in comparison. Every kiss with Percy up until this moment seemed to shrivel, nonexistent almost, as if they were with someone totally different. The only one that seemed to be in the same league as this kiss, was when Annabeth had woken up in the hospital, and they were alone, with no one around, in the middle of the night. Now it was the middle of the day, nearly noon, and once again they were all alone, without a soul around, other than fish, maybe, but nothing and no one else.
It was blissful, the only sound being the waves crashing on the shore. Annabeth tilted her head to the side, deepening the kiss, and Percy smiled against her lips, and he pulled away, breathing heavily. "I'm not gonna wanna stop later if we don't stop now."
Annabeth giggled and leaned back, putting her arms around his neck, her fingers playing with his wet hair. "We really need to figure out what this is..."
"Us." Percy smiled.
Annabeth laughed, "Obviously." He kissed her again, a quick, almost teasing kiss that made her smile even more. "I mean, that we have to talk about us. If someone asks, what do we say?"
"Nothing." He kisses her again, and Annabeth smiled. She was okay with that.
