The curtains added an orange glow, like they did every morning, as my eyes adjusted to the morning light flooding into my room, However, slight shadows still danced on the walls. I swung my feet over the side of my bed, and out of my cozy duvet. Feeling the warmth drain away from the lower half of my body, I made my way to a warm, wake-up shower.
Afterwards, I dried my hair, looking at my clear reflection in the mirror, my brown hair hung by my shoulders, my face freckly and clean. my emerald eyes stood out in contrast to my pale skin. I decided to wear black jeans, a grey top, and a light blue hoodie. Before leaving my room I slipped on my blue converse. I slid out of my room quietly and wandered to the end of the hall and down the stairs.
The tiled floors made my feet numb, as tip-toed towards the kitchen. opening the door to our house-elf, Mimsy, preparing breakfast. Whilst My elder brother Jayce sat upon a stool reading the daily prophet.
"Morning," I mumbled tiredly, heading towards the fridge.
"Morning, dear sister of mine," he called mockingly
"Oh, Shutup!" I hissed at my brother, smiling slightly.
"be quiet, don't wake mum, she was late home again last night, she's exhausted."
Our mother, Eldora black, Is an Auror at the ministry of magic, she has worked along scores of incredible witches and wizards in her time, but she thinks she's likely to get the sack any day now, seeing as her brother, my uncle has been sent to Azkaban. I miss him, he was always a kind man, not to mention he used to tell me stories from when he and mum went to Hogwarts. I hardly believe that he had done anything wrong, Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of magic was a stubborn and wary man, I'm afraid to say he will take no risks of letting the death eaters overtake the ministry. although, he was blinded by hatred, for Lucius Malfoy was in the past a death eater also.
"sorry, I forgot" I rubbed my eyes with my small hands, wiping the sleep out of them.
"It's okay Harls, I know, we're all tired, but school starts again soon, and you'll finally start your first year, then we'll both be able to sleep at night knowing we're safe."

As I ate my breakfast, A thought crossed my mind, It was Dudley's birthday! I'd almost forgotten, I huffed, realizing that I would have to put up with the Dursleys all day. Funnily enough, they were quite fond of me, probably because Dudley was, every year I had been invited to his 'party'. This year, I had been told we were visiting the zoo. It'll most likely be very entertaining because Dudley often has tantrums when he can't get his own way. I slowly made my way next door, the brass number four on the Dursleys' front door finally coming into view. Harry, the Dursleys nephew, didn't really have any friends, apart from me, of course, I guess that really was the reason felt obliged to arrive at the front steps of 4 Privet Drive. I navigate carefully down the pavement unsure of my fate if I even put a foot on their tidily kept front garden. I knocked, the door opened to a familiar, thin face. He beamed,
"Harry, you look tired," I told him honestly
"thanks, I hadn't noticed" he joked.
I engulfed him into a well-needed hug, and I was led into the dreaded no. 4 privet drive. The dining table was almost hidden beneath all of Dudley's birthday presents. It looked as though Dudley had gotten the new computer he wanted, not to mention the second television and the racing bike. Vernon Dursley entered the kitchen as Harry was turning over the bacon, which lay, cooking on the stove. He was a big, beefy, red-faced man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large mustache. He also, unfortunately for Harry, was very hot-headed, if the anything was the littlest bit off, he immediately put the blame on Harry, ugh, muggles.
