That night, as Virginia went to bed, she put the book on her bedside table. Dipper jumped up and bumped his head against her arm. Virginia laughed and petted him. She turned over before saying, "Goodnight, Dipper." and pausing when she heard Dipper meow back, softly. Virginia closed her eyes and drifted off into sleep.

In the Mystery Shack, Dipper was sitting on the floor with some blankets. He couldn't figure out how to get onto his bed. Mable had tried helping him by lifting his back legs up, but it just made things harder.
Mable murmured "Goodnight, Deerper." Dipper just shrugged it off. She was going to call him that no matter what he said.
"Goodnight, MerMable." Both twins smiled to themselves as they drifted off into sleep.
Sometime later...
Dipper was in a room. Everything was white, but then colors came. There was a huge wall in front of him, with the new prophecy lit up in green. Dipper turned his head, and saw a tall, red headed girl looking straight at him. Then, he felt his body shift and warp, he was now a cat, and the girl in front of him looked like Mable (as a mermaid). The girl's eyes widened. Dipper felt his do the same thing. It was like looking through a mirror, and seeing someone else in your reflection.
"Dipper?" The girl spoke in a whisper, but she might as well have been shouting. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a voice spoke.
The time has come to see yourself,
In life or death or on the shelf.
To look in the mirror.
To face the tide.
To see the soul to help you rise.
An arrow, a pine tree, to the forest they roam.
A dipper, a paw print, who wish to go home.
A triangle, a tennis shoe for, who wish they were much, much, much, much more.
A bag of ice, a six fingered hand, with a love to carry through all the lands.
A shooting star, some reading glasses, the life before my eyes, it passes.
Question mark, a crescent moon, the plane of pain will be here soon.
Dipper felt his body warp back into a cervitaur, and the girl warped back to her original form. Then, everything went black.

Sixer opened the door. Bill tried to smile. By watching humans, he knew it to be a symbol of trust.
"Hello, Sixer. I'm afraid I need some assistance." Sixer's neutral face warped into a snarl. Sixer jumped on him, pinning the former demon to the front porch. A growl escaped his lips.
"Why aren't you the feisty one?" Bill laughed, but it was a nervous one. He tried to push Sixer off him, but to no avail, for he didn't budge. In fact, every minute that Sixer was on him, it was like he was getting heavier. Bill came to realize that if Sixer didn't get off him, he would get crushed.
One of the things that Bill had learned while walking through the forest was this: If you were possessing a body, pain was muted and therefore funny. If it was your own body, the pain would come full on and would not be funny. Also, he also had real genuine emotions other than anger.
"Why would I help you?" Sixer growled, "You've done nothing to help my family. How do I know that you're not faking? How do I know that you wouldn't murder me and my family in the middle of the night? After Weirdmagetton, you know what I said to myself? Never again! Never again shall I trust that dream demon! Never again shall I fall victim to his pleas! And then, here comes the very same demon, pleading for help on my front porch! I should just kill you now. If you are as weakened as you look, I could slit your throat."
Sixer pressed a claw against his throat, and seeing the claw that was coming out of his skin, fainted onto the porch. Bill was able to get out from under him, and drag him down to the basement to sleep.
