Chapter 2: My Dad's Invention

I had always known that my dad was an adept inventor, with a love for our planet, but creating the machine that could fix the ozone layer!?😱😱 That was something I never thought someone would be able to execute! Because that was just astonishing! It could be the very thing that might save this planet!😱😳

Yep! my dad gloated I took me a long time, but I finally finished. 😎😏

Have you tested it out yet? I asked, still not able to discern how my dad had been able to create such invention. 😮😮

Well, no. Not yet sweety. But I will, because in a couple of hours the president is going to come to our house, with the press, and make this invention public!🤩🤩 And then we will turn it on and hope it works.😁😁

"Wow, dad!" I said "That's really cool, but wouldn't that be a little precarious?🤔 I mean, you are just going to hope that it works without even trying it? You could be humiliated in front of the whole world!😧"

"Oh, come on Daniela!" my dad assured me "Trust your old man! I got this.😎"

"Well if you say so." I sighed. 😕

I was still not convinced it was a good idea.😕 For some reason, my gut was telling me that something was going to go terribly wrong, 😰but I ignored it. (For my dad's sake.) Looking back, that was a terrible choice😕, I should have just destroyed that invention when I had the chance!😤 That way I could have avoided the dire consequences that were soon to come. 😱😱😞😞

"Daniela, I'm going to go and take a shower and get changed before the president and press get here." my dad said "I suggest you do the same thing!"🛀🏼💧💧

Ok, dad, I mumbled🙄

Excuse me, Mr. Quinn? the maid said, addressing my father Would you like me to clean this place up before they get here?☺️☺️

"Yes please!" my dad responded "I want this place spotless, thankyou."😁

On it sir. said the maid, and then nodded☺️

After that, my dad left the room to go take a shower. And I did the same thing soon after; leaving the maid with the invention.

I then went to my room and took a shower, I even washed my hair. I decided to put on my puffy red dress, which was my legacy from my mom, who had died when I was 12 years old. 💔

I liked the dress because it reminded me of my mom; but also because I thought it made me look pretty. I liked how the dress somehow made my green eyes look even greener, and the way it made my long wavy brown hair look. I don't really know why exactly, but I have always loved this dress. 😍

After I got changed I planned on going back to the laboratory, but something stopped me. On the way there I heard a sound. 🤔 🤨But this sound was not unusual like the one before, it was a sound I had heard before. It was the sound you heard whenever you had a text notification. 📱💬

So almost by reflex, I look for my phone;📱 but I didn't have it here. I had left it on my bed. So the sound was not coming from my phone. It was coming from the kitchen. 🍽

Intrigued I went to the kitchen to find out whos phone it was.🤨 When I got there I saw the maid's phone sitting on the kitchen counter, 📱 next to my dad's memento from his trip to Japan. I knew that I shouldn't be grabbing the maids phone, but I have always been a bit curious. Besides! My dad says that sometimes curiosity can even be an asset! 🤔😁

So I grabbed her phone with benign intentions.📱 I was going to take it to the maid in case she was looking for it. However, those intentions soon languished when I read what the text she received said. 😰 😱 😳It read:

Ok, the plan is almost complete. You just have to find a way to dismantle Mr. Quinns machine and attach the piece that I sent to you. That way the machine will go haywire and instead of repairing the ozone layer it will completely destroy it. That way we can get revenge on Doctor Quinn.

My face went pale. 😳 So pale that I looked like I was about to throw up.🤮 But hey, if you would have read something like that, your face would have gone pale too; I mean can you believe that my maid is trying to destroy the ozone layer?!? 🤯😰 😱 😳🤯😰 😱 😳I know I couldn't.
