The idea for this story came when I was in the I'm-so-impatient-I'm-going-crazy stage of waiting for the Iron Knight. And I decided that it would continue the adventures of Puck. We all felt responsible to give him a story where he'll find another adventure and another...love. And yes, the heroine's name is Brynna. There's a very big purpose as to why I named her that although, I'm still gathering ideas and interweaving certain loopholes. And believe me, it not an easy thing. I do not own the characters, Julie Kagawa and Shakespeare do. Please enjoy, read and review. Give me some criticisms and opinions, guys. I so need them. Desperately.
In the heart of the Summer Court, in a hidden room, the mistress was enraged. Gathering all fragile perfumes in her vanity closet, she threw it on the wall, bombarding the elegant room in a spray of different aromas and pieces of glass shards.
“That bitch!” she bellowed, “First my mirror, then Vi! Next time it’ll be Oberon!”
She cringed inwardly at the thought. Definitely no. Her dear husband wouldn’t betray her for the second time. However she was doubtful, envisioning the Iron Queen surrounded by all her pitiful abominations. She was the fruit of her husband’s folly in having an affair with a human; she scoffed, a mortal over her, his consort, veins flowing with royal blood that could resurrect every dying Seelie. How dare he! She calmed herself down (which was very difficult in her current state of mind) and shook her head, making her long multicolored hair ripple like waves as she faced the mirror. Leanansidhe’s chances of taking the throne were absolutely diminished based as to what she heard from her spy that the wench had finally surrendered in trying to overthrow her. For once in her eternal lifetime, she had to admit she found the Dark Muse’s common sense quite endearing. But now, now she’s in a room obscured from the eyes of her subjects, (because no one would ever see her fuming over a matter involving her longtime rival. She’d rather die first-scratch that-she’d rather fall in love with a donkey again than make a humiliation of herself to the Seelie Court over the frustrating fact that Leanansidhe had stolen something from her. Well, not including Vi of course because she was somewhat…thrown away. Never in her immortal existence would she admit that she stole the child) pouring her morbid ire on useless things when naturally she would be turning all human in her court to harts and release the hunt to chew them to shreds. Her anger flared yet again as she remembered how Robin Goodfellow and Mab’s third son outwitted her. She sniffed disdainfully at the gleaming crystals and an idea only a scorned Summer Queen could think of, dawned upon her.
“Of course! The golden mirror! I can channel my glamour through it because it was rightfully mine in the first place and place a curse to that stealing harlot of a fey.”
She cackled at her own reflection and all things in the room quaked. Smiling evilly, the Queen turned around as the big mirror shattered joining the obsolete ones on the floor while they glinted ominously at her retreating back.
What do you think? Cheers and long live the fey!
