Since it takes a long time to drive from Louisiana to California (and like an idiot, I didn't think to put them on a plane), I decided throughout the car ride (and probably throughout the entire story) I'll show little bits of the Mikaelson past about and with Mieczyslaw, like I did in the last chapter with Rebekah finding out he's gone

Niklaus's POV:

Niklaus kept staring out the window as Finn drove the car down the road. He let his mind wander to the last conversation he had with Mieczyslaw. He had just sent Elijah out to capture Katerina when he heard footsteps outside his door. He turned towards the door and saw his youngest brother enter his quarters.

"What do you want, Mieczyslaw?" He asked his brother, too wrapped up in his own troubles to notice the haunted look in his brother's eyes.

"I needed to tell you something important, it's urgent," Mieczyslaw told his brother.

"What is so urgent that it can't wait until Elijah captures Katerina?"

"I just wanted to tell you that I still love you brother, no matter what happened between us in the past"

Maybe if Niklaus wasn't so wrapped up in his own troubles, he would have noticed his brother was saying goodbye. When Niklaus wouldn't turn towards him, Mieczyslaw left, tears stinging his eyes as he wiped them away and went to complete his amulet.

Niklaus then thought back to the moment he and Elijah realized the youngest Mikaelson was gone. After Elijah informed him of Katerina's fate, Niklaus was enraged. He started screaming at Elijah.

(This flashback will be in both Niklaus's POV and Elijah's POV)

"How could you let this happen, brother!? Has your love for Katerina blinded you so severely that you did not see her escape you?"

"Control yourself brother, before you wake Mieczyslaw. I did not see him when I entered the house, he must be resting in his quarters" Elijah told Niklaus

Elijah hated disturbing Mieczyslaw when he was asleep. It was rare that Mieczyslaw allowed himself to rest, as he was terrified that Niklaus would find a way to dagger him, or worse. Elijah walked up the stairs to his youngest brother's quarters. He opened the, expecting to see Mieczyslaw resting in his bed. But when Elijah opened the door he saw that it was empty. The second Elijah saw his brother's room, he was sure of one thing. Mieczyslaw was gone.

"Niklaus!" Elijah called his brother

"What is it Eli..." Elijah pinned Niklaus to the wall

"Where is he!? Have you finally found a way to contain the only sibling who poses a threat to you?!"

"What are you talking about, Elijah?"

"Mieczyslaw's room is empty, his possessions are missing, where is he!?"

"Elijah, enough!" Niklaus escaped Elijah's grip "I didn't do anything to Mieczyslaw! I didn't even know he was gone!"

Then Niklaus thought back to what happened the night before. He remembered what Mieczyslaw told him.

"He left..." Niklaus realized

"Then get a witch! We need to locate him before father finds him!"

For the next ten years, Niklaus and Elijah found witch after witch and coven after coven and made them use locator spell after locator spell. They even started to believe that their father killed Mieczyslaw. Then they were found by Mikael and when they confronted him about Mieczyslaw's disappearance. He claimed to have not seen Mieczyslaw since the last time he found Niklaus, about 200 years before then. Once they escaped Mikael, Elijah remembered Mieczyslaw's amulet. It was given to him as a gift from a witch who had attempted to help him escape a few centuries before. He saw Mieczyslaw experiment with it on many occasions. It was a magical object that Elijah recognized from Tatia's collection. Because she couldn't use her own magic, she collected magical artifacts so she would have a source of power if she needed it. That amulet was the most powerful of her artifacts. It was lost after her death, so other witches must have found it. If Mieczyslaw was able to get some of Katerina's blood (Doppelganger blood was also a powerful magical tool) and use it with the amulet, he might have found a way to protect himself from locator spells. He must have been the one who helped Katerina escape the house in exchange for her blood. If Elijah was right, that meant their brother had found a way to hide from them permanently. He'll probably never see Mieczyslaw again. Now on their second day on the road, tomorrow he'll prove himself wrong.

Derek's POV:

Derek couldn't believe what happened to Stiles. The person he believed for so long was a kind-hearted spastic teen was actually a millennium old original vampire who was betrayed by his brother for half a millennium before he was able to escape, never being able to stay in one place and make a lasting connection.

"But where is your amulet? You said it was what covered your sent and protected you from locator spells" Lydia brought up

"When I escaped the ghost riders, it caused the amulet to crack, weakening it. My siblings then had a group of powerful witch cast a locator spell, which caused my amulet to shatter, now they know where I am and they're coming. I need to leave, my brother will kill all of you to get me. I can't put you all in danger"

"No! Stiles, we won't leave you to face that psycho alone!" Scott growled, eyes glowing red

"Scott! Niklaus is a merciless killer. He never lets anything stop him from getting what he wants. There was a witch who tried to help me escape, she gave me the amulet, and when Niklaus found out she wanted to help me escape, he killed her right in front of me. I can still see the life leaving her eyes whenever I close my eyes. I will not let my bastard brother take any member of the pack" Derek noticed how he said 'the pack' instead of 'my pack'.

"Stiles, you know you're still pack, right?" Derek questioned him

"What are you talking about? Wolves and vampires are mortal enemies. There's a reason the bite of any shifter will kill a Non-Original vampire and put an original vampire in unimaginable agony."

"Stiles, no matter what you are or what you've done, you will always be pack and wolves protect their pack," Derek told Stiles

Stiles couldn't help but smile when Derek told him he was still pack, but Derek could still see the fear in Stiles's eyes at what Niklaus what might do to the pack. But Derek knew that nothing would stop him from protecting his pack, even a psychotic original hybrid
