Orientation II

"Lorina, Zeri. You two are doing great! Double casting is rare nowadays. " They squealed with joy, then regained their composure.

"Thank you, Senpai." Max threw up a bit.

"Please, don't call me that. "

"This isn't working!" Max heard someone struggling in the distance.

"Hey man, calm down-"

"Shut up! You stupid non-adept!"

"What's going on here?" Max intervened. Rosa worried about what would happen.

"This stupid non-adept keeps trying to convince me to quit trying, as if I'd do that!"

"What's your name?"

"Lorence. "

"Well, Lorence..." Max slammed him to the ground, holding him by the neck and right hand.

"You do not speak to non-adepts in such a way. We are all equal. Is that understood?" No answer. Max squeezed his neck.

"Am I... Understood?"

"Y-Yes..." Max let go, brushing his hands on his pant leg.

"You've failed this test. You're being labeled a non-adept. Take some time to think about how you treat others." He turned around, and before Lorence could say anything, Max started again.

"Magic is a privilege, not a right. Just because you are able to use magic does not mean you have any authority over anyone else. " This infuriated Lorence, and with his horn-shaped Activator, charged at Max.

"You're just like the other non-adepts! Incindi-" Before he could finish, Max had knocked him out. Everyone was watching at this point.

"Max... Was that Mobility magic?" Nano looked over his shoulder.

"No. Instant Movement. Physical based technique. " He picked up the Activator Lorence had on him. Then he turned around, grabbing the attention of everyone else.

"Back to work!"

"Well, congratulations to those who made it!" Max looked over the trainees, including Lorina and Zeri, who made it into the program.

"We'll see to it that you all have your seventh period changed to this classroom. Be prepared to show up to this class tomorrow. We'll talk more then. You may leave. " It was nearing six o'clock, and Rosa had been watching Max instead of going home with her father. Max turned to Rosa and Nano.

"Wanna get dinner, guys?"

"Sure, why not?" Nano began walking away, immediately surrounded by his two "fangirls."

As the five* walk away, a shadow in the distance looks over them.

"This school should be targeted first."

"Yes. We need that boy for our experiment."

"We can begin this anytime you like. "

"When the time is right, Lorence. When the time is right."
