We were in the car on our way to my grandmas. It was Christmas and my parents were letting me drive after much begging. I was driving down the road singing christmas carols with my little brother in the front seat and my parents smiling and holding hands in the backseat. Suddenly I lost control of the wheel and we started spinning like crazy. The next thing I know we had run head on into a tree. I disorientedly looked over at my little brother Andrew and started crying. I slowly reached for my phone in my pocket doing everything I could to block out the pain. I got my phone and dialed 911.

“Hello this is the police department speaking, how may we help you,” a woman asked.

“Hello, I was driving down Parchment Street and I lost control of the car and we crashed into a tree, please we need your help, I dont know about my parents but I think my little brother is dead,” I said sobbing as I reached the end.

“Okay honey I need you to stay on the line, I am sending help your way right now, I just need you to answer some questions for me,” she said calmly.

“Yes,” I replied quickly sniffing.

“Can you get out of the car,” she asked quickly.

“No I cant move, I think I am stuck,” I said starting to panic.

“Can you move or feel your legs,” she asked.

“I can feel my left one but not my right,” I said starting to cry again.

“I know this is going to be hard, but, can you look at your parents,” she asked me.

I slowly craned my head to look at them.

“Yes I can see them, their slumped forward, and they arent moving,” I started to cry.

“Okay I need you to stay with me okay,” she said.

“I’ll try but it hurts so much,” I said my eyes going fuzzy.

“Whats your name honey,” she asked softly.

“Kylee, whats yours,” I asked her.

“My name is Bridgit,” she said.

“Thats a pretty name,” I said getting drowsy.

“Kylee, can you hear me, please keep talking to me,” I heard her starting to panic in the background but I couldnt move my lips or form words.

The last thing I heard before I passed out were sirens.

I woke up to the sound of metal screeching and cutting. I slowly open my eyes and saw flashing lights. I looked around dazed to see three firemen trying to get us out of the car. I look over to where my brother was sitting and noticed he wasnt there. I looked up at one of the firemen just as he finished cutting the metal and opened the door.

“Sir, wheres my brother,” I whispered.

“Right now our main priority is you,” he said as he carefully lifted me and carried me over to a stretcher.

The EMTs started flocking around me trying to keep me up and stop the bleeding in my leg. I looked over at the stretcher beside me and saw a small body bag sitting in a stretcher. I immediately knew it was my brother. I started bawling as I remembered all the times I had played with him. I remembered holding him in my arms when he was just a baby, I remember him running on his little feet down the hallway laughing as I chased him. I remember playing dinasour with him, I remember his big brown eyes, sleepily staring into mine as I carried him to bed every night. I remember us dancing at his 3rd birthday party, and him falling on his butt and knocking his cake right off the table. I remember him waking me up every morning by screaming at me as he ran into my room and jumped into my bed. I remember how he would always come into my room at night because he had a nightmare. I remember how we used to always tell secrets to each other. I remember our stupidest of fights. He was only five years old, he didnt deserve to die. I dont want him to die, hes my little brother he still has so much to see and live through. He cant be dead.
