Trying to save it

Confusion all around

One day I was outside and I was playing volleyball with my friend Scarlett. "I'm bored.... What do you want to do instead of this?" I asked. "I really don't know," said Scarlett. I just sat down by a tree and kinda thought for a wile. Then I got an idea! "Let's see if there is any animals that we can save!!"

Scarlett and I went to the humane society and tried to see if we can save some animals. So we got there and there was a different person behind the counter. I didn't know who she was, and I go to the human society all the time.... We didn't hear that there was going to be a new girl. She was tall, skinny, short curly red hair with a bow in it, and she kind of looked like she was in her 25-30s. So without hesitation we walked up to the counter and said, "excuse me, what is your name?" She turned around and said "oh! Why hello there girls! My name is Lyra and I'll be taking over for your friend..... Ummmm what's her name?" "Marri?!" I said. Lyra put a bright face on and said, "ah yes! That's right."

Scarlett and I looked at each other and probably thought of the same thing. I waved Scarlett to come over by me and talk. She walked over and said, "hey what's up.... I don't feel good about this Lyra chick." "I don't either Scarlett, she seems kind of... Hmm... Crazy maybe? I really don't know what to call her." Scarlett was thinking on what to call her too. "Maybe we should just ask if there is any animals to save" said Scarlett. I agreed. We walked over and Scarlett asked, " excuse us but, um, we wanted to ask-" Scarlett hesitated " if we can save any animals that are around here?" I continued. "Actually yes there's some *wild* animals that you can save!" Lyra said. "What do you mean by *wild* animals?" Asked Scarlett. Lyra looked at us seriously. Scarlett and I looked at each other in confusion. "Do you really want to know?" Asked Lyra. Scarlett and I shook our heads agreeing.

Then all of a sudden Lyra turns around and crouches down and picks up this book. "What is that??" Scarlett asked. "It's the story of the ancient animals that are still alive today." Said Lyra "I don't know about this," Scarlett said. "Don't worry, it'll be fun. I promise!" Said Lyra. Scarlett whispers to me "I don't think that it'll be fun at all..... Do you think so?" I just stared at Lyra, fascinated, and says "I think so.... Why don't you Scarlett?" She looks at me and then says "I don't cause didn't you say that you think that she's, um, like crazy??" "Yes, yes I did but right now I'm thinking of the animals that we can save with this book!" I said. Scarlett looks sad and says " I guess so. How will the book help us?" "If we go out into the wild we can use this book to see what kinds of animals and creatures we can find out there! Do you get it now!" I said. Scarlett said, "oh, now I get it!" Lyra has been listening to our conversation and then says, "Ok I'll let you guys go on your adventure to save some of these animals and if you need anything you can use this walky-talky to talk to me." Lyra handed me the book and she handed Scarlett the walky-talky. "Scarlett I don't want to use the walky-talky unless I need to, because I want to do this adventure with little help from people in town." I said. Scarlett and Lyra agreed with me. Then we said our thank yous and went on your way.

We started waking down this ally way..... Believe me, it was scary. I was on the, eh, 25th page of the book, and Scarlett was walking right by my side almost hugging me cause she was so scared. I admit.. It was pretty scary but, I was occupied because I had the book to look at. "Why are we walking this way though town?" Scarlett asked. I look up quickly because I was so occupied that I wasn't paying attention. "Hm what?" "Didn't you hear me?" Scarlett asked. "No I didn't, sorry, what did you say?" I asked. Then Scarlett said, "I asked you why are we walking this way though town?" I thought about it, then I said, "I don't know.... I'm going to go back to reading the book now Scarlett."

We finally get out of the ally way. I start reading out loud so Scarlett could hear what to do and where we have to go. "If you want to find the wonderful Phoenix bunny you have to go....... I can't read this map.... Scarlett, ca-" She snatches it out of my hands before I can even finish my sentence. "Give me that book." She looks at it and then gets fascinated. "Scarlett? Are you ok?" I asked. She didn't answer to my question. Is she ok? "HELLO?" I waved in front of her face. She finally snapped out of it. "What? What just happened?" She asked. "You were in this kind of trance when you looked at the map.... Are you ok Scarlett?" I asked again. Scarlett spaced out. Then all of a sudden she almost fell to the ground. I accidentally dropped the walky-talky and I tried to catch her. I caught her just in the nic of time. "SCARLETT!! ARE YOU OK??!!" I screamed. I was crying and screaming for help. No body was around to help Scarlett and I. I just don't know what happened to her. Can someone help us?
