_______________
A month after Taehyung's neighbors died I was hit with another blow.
Yoongi had died.
Since our friends had started dying Yoongi had started to fall deeper into the loneliness that he preferred. He started to spend more and more time at home, ignoring my texts and calls because he wasn't ready to face anyone. His best friend was Hoseok and when he died it was the end of the world for Yoongi. It didn't help that all our other friends had died as well. What a pain to go through in such a short amount of time.
Of course, I had been worried about Yoongi but there wasn't much I could do. I didn't have a key to his apartment which made it impossible for me to stop in to make sure he was eating and drinking. However, I knew that if he was anything like he was in school, he'd be spending most of his time sleeping. That's what he was good at.
I wish I had done something. I wish I had broken down his door and demanded to be let in just to make sure he was okay. Every part of me wishes I had forced food down his throat and made him drink water. But I didn't.
If Yoongi hadn't been physically exhausted from the amount of food, and water, he wasn't taking in then he would have been able to get out alive. When his apartment had caught on fire, after an electrical outlet malfunction, he was still asleep in his bed and completely unaware of what was going on around him. By the time he finally did realize what was going on it was too late. The fire had completely engulfed his apartment. There was no way for him to get out. Not alive.
Yoongi had burned alive.
Yoongi had died.
That was my breaking point. That was the moment that I decided that I didn't care if I had enough proof on Taehyung. I may have been in love with him and he may have been the best thing to ever happen to me, but I wasn't going to stand by and let him kill any more people. If I let him keep killing I was just as bad as him.
When I had finally gone to the police I had made sure it didn't seem like I was avoiding Taehyung. While Taehyung went to work I went to the police station on my lunch's during the school week. The first two police officer's I talked to didn't believe me but as luck would have it, a third officer had overheard my spiel about how I was one hundred percent positive that Taehyung had killed nine people.
Officer Soo sat down and asked me to tell him everything.
Before I knew it, I was helping with an investigation. Offer Soo had called in a friend of his that worked as a Private Investigator. he asked him to investigate the disappearance of Taehyung's dad while we worked on trying to prove that Taehyung killed all the people I believed he killed. The reason Officer Soo believed me? He didn't believe in coincidences and there were too many in my explanation for him to ignore.
Then came the hardest part of the investigation. After a couple of months of searching for proof and trying to get other people on the case, Officer Soo and his partner, Officer Park, had asked him if I would be okay with recording a conversation between me and Taehyung.
It was going to be difficult. I was going to have to try and get Taehyung to admit that he had been the one who killed our friends. If I was right, and he was the killer, then my life was going to be in danger. Taehyung could snap at any moment and kill me. Or, he could be smart enough to be able to talk himself out of it, to make it sound like he wasn't involved, and I was being ridiculous.
There was also one other option. I could be entirely wrong. While confronting Taehyung I could finally conclude that I had been wrong this entire time and that Taehyung hadn't killed all of them, that I had taken the loss of my friends and turned it on him to make up for the fact that I had lost so many people at once. Taehyung could come out of the conversation absolutely hating me and I could lose the one person I love more than anything.
The second possibility was one I didn't see happening. Out of the past four years of knowing Taehyung I had grown accustomed to how he was and who he was. As I got to know Taehyung I had watched him closely to be able to understand him easier because he was the one person I couldn't understand. Maybe that's why I was able to piece together the fact that he had killed everyone. Maybe my love for him helped me see the kind of person he truly was instead of being blinded by the friendship he had with everyone else.
Maybe that was all their downfalls.
Being friends with Taehyung.
