I opened my eyes to the loud voice of the pilot saying we were almost getting home. The ride was long, the longest five hours in my whole entire life. I didn't have a Louis to make stupid music videos with, I didn't have a Liam to tell me to make silence, I didn't have a Harry to ask me if I was drunk, but most importantly, I did not have a Zayn to laugh and look at the clouds and kiss with.

I removed the somehow really comfortable caste from my sweaty arm, although I am heart broken I didn't forget about it. I made it withouth crying. Five hours of complete silence and boredom, except from the guy next to me snoring, he was kind of funny, his snores were funny. But I did not laugh, I didn't have it in me to laugh, not even to smile. I was asleep most of the flight, and woke up when there was just half an hour left.

So I took my phone from my messy bag, and called Riley.

"Hello ?"

"Hi Riles, I know it is 5 am and it would sound totally weird and possibly you won't belive me but" I sighed, exhausted. "I need you and Rebecca to pick me up at the airport"

"What ?!"

"I will explain later"

"Valerie May Hudson, have you been crying ?" Sometimes I am conviced he sees me through the phone or something, maybe knows me too well.

"Please just pick me up, okay ? Bring Rebecca, it's important" I was going to hang up when he spoke up.

"Val ?"

"Yes ?"

"Happy Birthday"

"Thanks Riley, for being my favorite human being in this whole universe, and for being so awesome"

"Always baby, I'll be waiting for you here"

"Bye" I said and hung up. Yes, today is my birthday. December the 30th and Riley was the first to make me feel good about It. The plane landed, fast and loudly, making me ask myself how can some of those people who work too much travel so often, I would sincerily die. I got out of the plane, with a massive headache and a bag of m&ms that reminded me of Louis so much I saw his face in every piece of candy.

The airport was crowded, but I was home, and it smelt like home. Sweet sweet America. I went through baggage claim, and trust me it is wayyy worse being alone in baggage claim, and it is absolutely horrible when you are in this mood. I had the hardest time picking my suitcase up from the weird strap, I overpacked, and it showed. I walked all the way across the airport to the little happy part where your family picks you up. I searched for mine, but only found two sleepy that looked a lot like my best friends .

"Happy birthday !" Rebecca attacked me with one of her bone-crushing hugs.

"Thanks girlie" I stood up straight and looked at both of them and noticed Rebecca was in this super put together outfit and Riley was... In his pijamas, but I don't blame him.

"How was your flight ?" Riley helped me with my suitcase as we walked out of the automatic airport doors.

"Long, and boring" I sighed and helped Riley place the suitcase in his car's gigantic trunk.

"I imagine" we all sat in the car, Riley driving, Rebecca got shotgun, an I had all the backseat for myself.

"Now the real question" Riley turned around and looked at me straight in the eyes. "Why are you here, withouth your boyfriend and his friends" I sighed. A big, long, heavy and deep sigh full of exhaustion.
