Esme's POV
I couldn't believe after all these years that Bella was alive! We came back a few months after leaving, only to be shunned by Charlie, Jake and the rest of the community for Bella's death, even though they never found her body. I thought that it was suspicious.
And now I knew why.
Bella was whispering to the girls, who'd been gazing about but was now looking intently at Bella. “Remember how I told you about Esme?”
“The nicest one,” the smallest child answered. I had to chuckle at that.
Bella smiled and nodded. Then something came into my head, into all of our heads, I guess. “Let's go to my house to talk more privately.” Then Bella turned to look at me, “Is anyone else with you?”I shook my head, and heard a sigh of relief pass through her lips. As we drove the whole way, I could see the girls peeking out the back window at me, smiling. I couldn't help but wonder who these children were.
When we got to Bella's. Everyone filed out of the car. From what I could see was the oldest of the group placed her hands to Bella's cheek, and after a moment, Bella nodded. “All right.”
The tallest one who had just touched Bella's cheek came over to me and wrapped her small frame around me, as the other two followed. I was very confused, yet happy and felt warmth for the first time in a long time.
The oldest put her hand to my cheek again, saying, “I'm Renesmee Carlie, named after you, Mamie Renee and grandpas Charlie and Carlisle.”
If I could've cried, I would've. The second one came to me, saying, “I'm Prudence Andromeda. Renesmee and I are twins.”
I looked skeptically at the third: she was small, but not by much. And she seemed very shy. I watched as Bella wrapped her arms comfortingly around the small child. “This is Audrina Persephone. All three were supposed to be triplets, but she hid in the womb for another month, soaking up more venom, which made her a bit stronger. While Renesmee and Prudence are 70% vampire, Audrina was about 90%.”
All of a sudden, Audrina crouched. “Someone's coming!”
