I was pretty much asleep, but I kept hearing people talking. I finally realized that it wasn’t my dream, but it was my mom walking out of my room with someone else, I could tell it wasn’t my dad or my brother. At first, I couldn’t understand what the guy was saying, but I did hear his voice. It was one I kind of recognized but not really, and I was sorta confused. I then remembered that I wasn’t home. I heard my mom say

“ I guess I was just hoping she woke up so you could meet her.”

“ I guess we will just have to wait till tomorrow.”

“ But you traveled all the way here, I was hoping tomorrow would be a comfortable day where everyone could hangout, and it wouldn’t be a big deal, and she wouldn’t be in freak out mode.”

“ Haha, I’m sure she will be fine, we will all be very welcoming and act normal, just hopefully she will too.”

The voices started fading away faster and faster, to the point where I couldn’t even hear any of the conversation anymore, not even mumbling. Knowing that they were gonna be welcoming, and they wanted to have a fun time tomorrow, made me feel good, and I was actually kind of excited for tomorrow. Everyone may even still be here, I don’t know what the plans were, I didn’t know if everyone was gonna stay the night, or if they were gonna go home. Heck I dont even know who these people are, or where they live. I figured I could just text my mom in the morning, and figure it all out, so i didnt come inside looking like a mess and everyone was sitting there staring at me.That would be bad, that would be like the worst first impression. I looked at the clock to see what time it was, and it was about 2:30. I then decided to just go back to sleep, so I was rested and wasn’t tired for tomorrow. I woke up and forgot where I was again, but remembered quicker than before. My vision was kind of blurry so I rubbed my eyes and looked at the clock. It was 8:12 am. Heck I slept for a while, which I normally don’t. I guess I was jet lagged. Then I went to text my mom, like I decided to last night. My texts werent sending, so I just decided to call.

“ Hello?”

“ Hi Mom, Where is everyone? whats the plan for today?”

“ Everyone went home to freshen up, they should be back any minute now.”

“ Okay, in that case im going to get in the shower and freshen up.”

“ Okay hun”

“ WAIT mom, when you came in my room last night, who were you with?”

“ Oh it was just you’re cousin,  I told him about you and he was just too excited to meet you, so i figured why not see if you were awake.”

“ You let him see me sleeping?”

“ Well, erm, sorta... it was quite dark.”

“ Whatever mom, talk to you soon.”

I then hung up the phone and walked over to get into the shower. When i got out i did my hair and put on a cute outfit, I was actually quite impressed with the way I looked, and I was so ready to meet everyone. I had a good feeling about this. I was super excited today, I’m not really sure why I was so nervous yesterday. Now I feel quite stupid for wanting to bail, like I did yesterday. I guess I’m just more comfortable with the idea. I was super ready to meet everyone, like I said, I had a good feeling about this. I decided to call Shelby first, and update her with what was going on in my life, so she knows I haven’t been abducted, or that I’m not dead. I haven’t talked to her since the night I left, so I guess I still have a lot to tell her.

“ erm, uh, Hello?”

“ Shelby!!”

“ um, hi.”

“ Why do you sound so tired? you’re normally up by now!”

“ No I’m not, Megan.. time difference. its 4 in the morning here!”

“ Oh my gosh Shelby! I’m sorry, I guess I forgot... I can talk to you later if thats-”

“Its okay you woke me up anyways, so talk. give me the dish on everything, whats it like? hows your summer house? Hows your family? ARE THERE ANY CUTE COUSINS I CAN DATE?!?!!”

“ hahaha, its awesome here! very calm and everything. My summer house is AMAZING its better than anything I could even ask for! PLUS theres a indoor theater, a pool, AND my room is above the garage! It’s not even connected to the house, so I can basically do ANYTHING I want without my parents even noticing! And, well erm...”

“ What?! What are you not telling me?! Oh no... Your familys ugly, arent they? crap. this is not a good thing.”

“ Shelby, no. I haven’t even met my family yet....”

“ Well why not?! you were supposed to meet them yesterday! They didn’t get lost did they?!”

“ No, they were here I just didn’t get to meet them....”

“ Why not?”

“ Well... umm.... you see...”

“ MEGAN JUST TELL ME.”

“ I chickened out okay..”

“ Ugh Megan! So when are you gonna meet them?”

“ Today, like in less than an hour..”

“ Well you don’t seem so excited about it, Megan you have been waiting to meet your family for your whole life..”

“ No!! Trust me, I am excited! I really am, I just I don’t know..”

“ I kind of understand, I guess. just nerves right.”

“ Exactly, but I’m over the nerves now, i just went through that phase yesterday, thats why I chickened out.”

“ Okay, well please, just have fun, and be yourself they will love you!”

“ Okay thanks Shelby.”

“ Call me when you can, also, when its not four in the morning...”

“ Okay, sorry about that....”

“ Its okay,”

“ Talk to you soon!”

“ BYE! Oh and remember, YOU BETTER GIVE ME EVERY DETAIL.”

“ You know I will!!”

“ Thats my girl, talk to you later.”

“ Okay bye!”

It was then when I felt compltley comfortable with everything, I guess talking to my bestfriend helped, and it made me feel normal, and that nothing was wrong, and everything was going to be okay. Shelby always finds a way to calm me down, and I don’t even know how she does it, she just does.. I guess its just one of those gifts of hers.... I heard my phone going off again, and walked over to see what it was. It was my mom...

“ Everyones here again, just come over when you’re ready.” I braced myself for about five minutes, basically practicing what i was going to say in the mirror, and thinking of what expressions I should use and posture and everything, kind of like i was going to an audition of some sort, and then decided I was ready to go and meet my family. I walked over to the door, and turned the knob. I could feel that there was someone on the other side, and the door was opened before I knew it.
