Chapter 1- A Wish Gone Wrong

"There you are."

I felt the corners of my lips twitching up as a familiar masculine voice; a voice so melodious I could listen to it all day long, found its way to my ears. I turned my head to find the familar honey blond haired guy with hazel eyes smiling down at me. His smile alone was enough to initiate the fluttering of butterflies in my stomach. It was unbelievable that that smile belonged to me. That he belonged to me.

"Would you like to dance with me, my beautiful lady?" Lorcan asked as he held out his hand for me to take, his hazel eyes twinkling with mischief. My stomach did a summersault as he called me his lady. It had been about a month since we had been dating, but I still couldn't act normal in moments like this. He could make me all jittery just by looking at me.

"It'd be a pleasure." I smiled as I took his hand and he started leading me towards the crowd of dancers. The smell of alcohol and sweat became stronger as he led me deeper into the crowd. We stopped moving after we reached a relatively spacious are. Then he settled one of his arms around my waist and inched me closer a bit. His masculine smell hit my nostrils and suddenly the smell of sweat and alcohol was forgotten. He was all I could smell.

We started swaying slowly to the loud music.

"Have I told you how ravishing you look tonight?" He shouted over the loud music, his eyes roaming the length of me and then met my own. And there they were again. The butterflies.

"You might have mentioned it." I tried to keep it cool even though my insides were melting with his each word "About ten times, I reckon?" I smirked. His eyes sparkled with amusement.

"Well, I'd have said it a thousand times, was not it for your ego which is already on the seventh sky." He beamed and I hit him in his chest playfully. A comfortable silence passed between us as we continued to sway to the music. I had put my head against his shoulder at some point and I liked how I could smell him clearly with my each breath. He interlocked our hands together.

"Lily?" He called out, his warm breath fanning the side of my neck and sending chills down my spine.

"Hmm?"

"What's this?" He pulled out from my embrace, his hand still lingering around my waist. His other hand was touching the ring I had been wearing. "I have never seen you wear it before."

"Oh, that!" I said, my gaze falling on our interlocked hands. And I couldn't help but notice how well his hands fit in mine. "Umm, Freddie gifted it to me. It's beautiful, isn't it?" I saidas I gazed upon the sparkling emerald stone settled inside the golden ring.

"Yes, indeed." He said but I wasn't paying attention. I was mesmerized by the beauty of the ring. It was so beautiful. So precious. How had I never noticed it before? I was woken up from my trance as I saw a bird like marking moving inside the stone. Did I just imagine it?

I looked up to ask Lorcan if he noticed that too. But he wasn't looking at the bird. He was looking at me. Intently. Like setting my body on fire kind of intently. And then I realized that he was talking about me being beautiful and not the ring. Thank merlin for the dim light otherwise he would have seen me blushing.

"You are a sight to behold, Lily Luna Potter." He said, his eyes holding me captive. I wasn't able to look away. Hell, I wasn't able to breathe. Then suddenly, our heads started moving towards each other. I don't know if it was me who moved first or him or we both moved simultaneously- but we were kissing.

I woke up with a headache next morning, my eyes blinking rapidly as they adjusted to the sunlight peeking through the window of my room.
