SHE WINCED LIKE A VAMPIRE when the sun hit her chocolate colored skin. The alcohol she consumed was coming back to haunt her morning, her hands going up to rub at her temple. The sweet aroma of freshly made blueberry waffles entered the bedroom which caused Cleo to roll around in the king sized bed. Her hand reaching for her phone on the nightstand next to the bed, reading the messages. Mainly messages from her money hungry mother, her drug addict of a father, and Amara wanting to know her whereabouts.
When she rolled out of bed tugging on the white button down shirt that obviously didn't belong to her, she followed the delicious scent of breakfast food towards the kitchen. Try a Little Tenderness by Otis Redding played as the darker skinned male was cooking breakfast. His back turned away from Cleo as he was cooking. Cleo couldn't help but admire the beauty in front of her. Leaning against the counter just taking in the silence and the attractive man in front of her. Cleo couldn't believe that she managed to be with him.
He had money, he had the social status, he had the looks, and the list goes on. However, he was with her. She didn't have the light skin like Lisa Bonet nor did she has the big ass like Kim Kardashian, but she had something that made him adore her so much. Even if when she would leave his place, she would go right to another guy place to collect his black card to shop and pamper herself. She never understood that. She was a bitch, she would point that out herself. However, she was a bitch with options.
"If you're going to stare, at least take a picture. It'll last longer."
Cleo couldn't help but smile, "Didn't want to interrupt your American Idol moment." She commented as she tugged the shirt she wore down a little.
Luke James was something. An old soul that sold and trafficked drugs within Miami. He enjoyed the old school R&B music and the late night marathons of Martin on a Saturday. He turned the music down after grabbing plates. Cleo would look at him, "Where are your spare tooth brushes?" She would question.
Luke made a face at her. He knew that when she would ask that, it only meant that she was about to leave. He enjoyed her company when she wasn't on the run to her other dude. He wished that he could have her all to herself, but Cleo was complicated. She couldn't just choose because in her eyes she could have both until at least until Luke or the other dude put their foot down to her shenanigans. Which neither one of them bothered to do because of Cleo? She had a grip on them and wasn't letter go unless they cut themselves loose on their own. It wasn't like when Cleo went back and fourth, he was by himself. Luke was very well known, he could always find someone else who would ride him just like Cleo would on certain nights.
"Can you at least eat breakfast with me?" Luke found himself asking.
"I have to meet with Amara about the boutique," Cleo lied.
Luke only sucked his teeth and only turned his back away from Cleo. The petite dark skinned young woman only rolled her eyes. She just knew an argument was coming. She technically wasn't even supposed to be here at the moment or went out to party with him, which led to her and him sleeping together. Just last week, he told her that she shouldn't be seen with him because of some bad confrontation he had with the Cubans. Now all of sudden he want her to be here. He confused her sometimes.
"Just say you're going to your other nigga house Cleo, no need to lie."
Cleo shrugged her shoulders and turned around to go back into the room to pull her clothes on. This was one thing she hated, she hated arguing. It reminded too much of her parents relationship that crumbled right in front of her eyes. Luke wasn't so far behind her, "Why can't you just choose huh? You just have to have both."
Cleo ignored his words tugging on her clothes, she pushed her phone in her back pocket and grabbed her car keys. She pulled on her jean jacket she wore last night, "You know I can't do that. I'm not forcing you to be with me, hell we're technically not even a couple."
Luke eyed her up and down, Cleo did the same and went back to searching for her shoes. "soundNot a couple my ass." Luke commented throwing his hands up in frustration.
"Luke, I don't do relationships. Hence, the fact that I'm seeing both you and Keith."
Cleo never mentioned the other guy name when she was with the other dude. It would always make someone feel some type of way. Luke was silent for a second and she didn't like that. She didn't like when he was silent simply because he always had something to say. It was apart of his personality.
"Keith...that sounds familiar." He replies.
Now Cleo had her shoes on and walking towards the door, Luke once again following her like a lost puppy.
"Are you fucking kidding me? You been fucking the owner of Ecstatic?"
Cleo opened the door and stepped out the front door and into the hallway of his condo building. The plan was that neither of them was supposed to know each other. They knew that there was another guy, but they didn't know the other guy name or where they worked. Cleo wanted to keep it that way.
"Yes," Cleo bluntly answered before turning around and walking down the hall.
Luke didn't even have time to chase after her so he could express just how angry he was. He slammed his front door shut and paced around the living room. The breakfast he cooked for her was growing cold, frustration bubbled on his mind, and he was in shock. She really was with this book smart Harvard ass clown. It caused Luke to wonder, what did Keith have that he didn't. He pulled out his phone calling a close friend that was good at digging up dirt on someone and giving head on a lonely night.
"Hey Lauren, I'm going need you to dig something up on the guy that own Ecstatic."
"What's in it for me Zaddy?"
Luke lips curled into a smirk, "You know I go you ma."
He knew on the other line, she was smiling hard when those words came out his mouth. Luke had a feeling that this wasn't going end how he wanted it to end, but it would have been perfect for what he had planned in the future. He wanted to be the most known drug dealer in Miami, even if that meant stealing the Cubans territory right under them.
